dis nigga, but seriously, I keep hearing good things about this, but I've always been skeptical
of giant robot animes, I was only able to stand Evangelion and Full Metal Panic

With Code Geass, the giant robot stuff isn't the primary center point and the core of the anime.
Its more around their use in an epic chess game of mad badassery

If you could stand Evangelion you probably dont like good anime, but it's less generic giant
robot fights and more so giant awesome chess using mechs. The main focus is not so much the mech
battles, as it is the social engineering and manipulation with the goal of continental/global
domination

Eh, it's fairly overrated. You know how Deathnote had those moments of

and so on?
Now ramp that up far more than it ever really needed to go and that's a good chunk of Code Geass.
It has some fantastic moments, but they really overdid it with the "always X steps ahead" thing.
Also notable for not knowing how chess works.
