I studied abroad in Japan and had something going on with a Japanese girl before I met my Lithuanian Master Race Girlfriend who was also studying there. Japanese girls are just as insecure, if not more so, than western (American) girls. If anything, you have to be EVEN MORE forward with them because the Japanese language forms itself to politeness and maintaining the status quo and NOT CAUSING EMBARRASSMENT TO ANOTHER PERSON. So if a girl likes you there she probably won't tell you because she'd be afraid of the humiliation that she would face if you turned her down. The Japanese are gossipy bitches. They don't want that kind of "shame" >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)13:39 No.1922480 >>1922479 Continued All that being said, being an American in Japan is awesome because the whole fucking country loves you. And if you're not afraid of the social stigma, which you shouldn't be, then approaching girls is very easy and successful because of 3 factors. 1) Self-confidence is attractive and it doesn't lend itself to the modern Japanese male 2) You're a foreigner. Japanese girls generally want to try something exotic. Don't we all. 3) You're not inherently part of Japanese society, so it minimizes the damage caused by a rejection since you're not a part of the same social group. And it's cool to date a foreigner. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)13:42 No.1922484 >>1922480 Will be checking this thread again over time. I've been to Japan for a year and Lithuania for a year to study abroad. I've slept with 1 Japanese, 1 Australian, 1 Lithuanian, and around 5 American girls. If you have any questions then drop 'em here. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)13:43 No.1922485 >>1922480 what about a black dude? >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)13:46 No.1922489 10/10 Best FPS of all years >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)13:47 No.1922491 >>1922485 Black people generally have a bad reputation, at least in Eastern Honshu. I'm not sure about the other places. It's because African blacks tend to get hired in Tokyo shops and they'll stand over people and intimidate them into buying things. I realize that may sound fucking retarded, but it's true. My best friend was from Tajikistan; he had a kind of mocha skin and he did really well. He was a heart throb because he had a pretty athletic body, he was funny, and he had great fashion sense. But he wasn't interested in Japanese girls so much. He ended up sleeping with this Polish girl a lot. But whenever he wasn't around and I was part of a private conversation with others they were always having the hots for him. So he pretty much had his run of the mill. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)13:50 No.1922494 >>1922491 That being said, there are niche groups that Japan has. There's a huge hiphop culture and if you were into that, as the stereotype would imply, then there would be plenty of friends you could make, both male and female. And now that I think about it, those shops I mentioned in my last post might only be geared more for tourists, not so much for the Japanese themselves. But it inherently affects them since many Japanese travel and act as tourists. They're like 10x as susceptible to being forced into something as a foreigner is due to the culture of saving face. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)13:54 No.1922499 >>1922485 Try it and post results. This is something all guides will tell you if you wanna go around japan one day. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)14:10 No.1922516 >>1922499 i know you probably just jotted that down but that post just filled me with so much general confidence for no specific reason, thank you >>1922491 >>1922494 i'm as oreo as it comes so it'll probably go like how it usually does. people in the hiphop scene will be interested in me at first thinking i'm into it but it'll slowly turn to awkward weirdness. The steriotype tends to reach people before my personality does, so it's usually an invisible obstacle i have to get through. but it's kinda cool knowing that your friend did well by just being. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)14:15 No.1922520 >>1922514 Not necessarily true. I did a homestay in the rural part of Ishikawa in both the capital of Kanazawa ans well as in the most rural place ever and I went to the local Sauna. Carried on conversations with a bunch of Japanese dudes who were gathering around to see/speak to a foreigner. That being said, it was the only real rural area I interacted with locals at. The rest of the places it was in convenience stores or with my friends. So maybe I just found an exception. Who the fuck wants to go to a rural area anyways? >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)14:18 No.1922524 >>1922516 Well. Look at the bright side. Even if you don't hit it off with the Japanese, you'll automatically be thrown into a social group with the other Americans and the Europeans. Geographic/Cultural cliques tended to form where I was. The Chinese grouped up. The Europeans/Americans/Australians and pro-western west-Asians tended to group up and just be happy together. You an undergrad in college? I know a few scholarships you could apply to. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)14:22 No.1922530 >>1922479 >>1922480 Sorry I went away for a bit. But I'd like to say first of all I'm not murrican but Scandinavian, but I'd not be surprised if I'm categorized as American while over there. Second of all, as a pasta tripping jelly desert there is one thing you're over looking here, I can relate to their shyness of rejection. Only in doing so is enough for a master of spaghetti to boost some form of confidence also as you mention as a foreigner it's more acceptable if case they reject since they don't have to see you on a daily basis All you'd have to watch out for is the gaijin hunters and find a qt3.14 that wants you, for you, odds may drop but I'd rather bet on that then western women at this point >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)14:23 No.1922532 >>1922520 It is not everywhere, so you probably ended up in a nice place. They just tell you that because if you decide to take a tour at somewhere they don't like foreigners, you better know how to get back on your own. Oh, and there are even some places that they talk with strong accent or even use another dialect, and you may have problems asking for directions. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)14:32 No.1922540 >>1922530 Just remember that just because you're a foreigner doesn't guarantee you a waifu. You still need to try to get in shape, have decent hobbies, cultivate your social skills, and all that. Otherwise you're setting yourself up for failure. I'm not trying to sound harsh or anything, but if you want a cool girlfriend then you'll need to those things. Otherwise the probability of you running into a cool Japanese girl who likes to play games and all that are very low since those types of people tend not to be social and you won't get many opportunities to meet them, especially outside of classes. If you don't branch out and try new things then you'll spend the year locked in your room on your computer. And the beautiful thing is that once you go, assuming you don't go with anyone else who knows you, it's like a blank slate. You can be whoever you want to be. It nurtured a lot of self-growth in myself. And it was the best year of my life. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)14:33 No.1922542 >>1922530 And when are you going? The biggest nono omg and half "get out of my country" I can see is my full sleeve and the whole mentality of yakuza, but I also know they're trying to change that (even if some like Toru is active against it. But I really want to go to Japan and try a complete overhaul of myself, with no strings attached to possible negative feedback from social circles I can be better then now, as you pointed out! >>1922542 No, despite an urge to go you don't simply just go, it's expensive first of all, 2nd of all if you want to live there you need a visa, I doubt I can find a course beyond Japanese to take there which is at best 1 and half I believe .. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)14:55 No.1922562 >>1922553 Are you an undergraduate in college? What level of schooling do you have? >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)15:04 No.1922570 >>1922562 Since I pointed out I'm from Scandinavia, we have a different school system, but if I translate it into American one I believe I've done 1st year of college so if I were to continue school I'd start from 2nd year so to speak. I know several from my country that went to American colleges after school here and been allowed to skip right to 2nd year due to our last year here is similar to 1st year of college in terms of classes. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)15:10 No.1922578 >>1922570 I see. Well. You should talk with your international studies department at your school. And inquire about the JASSO scholarship. It gives you a nice stipend that you can live off of. You'd still have to pay for your ticket and your tuition, but as long as you weren't a complete retard you would be financially OK :) Also, if you went to somewhere that wasn't in a huge city, but was within travel distance (I was in Tsukuba City; 1 hour by train from Tokyo) then you'll have super cheap prices and a small town so you can get a bike. Won't have to deal with all that subway shit. Check it out man. I actually brought enough money back with me from that scholarship to pay for another semester of my college. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)15:19 No.1922584 First off: >FPS Second, this would seem a lot better if the autist playing it was actually able to fucking aim. >> [_] Anonymous 03/23/13(Sat)15:52 No.1922616 >>1922578 hnnnng, you have no idea how much I want to go there already.
