For newcomers, you can get epic experience/gold by saving before you attack a monster (S), attacking the monster, and pressing A to load the save before you kill it. The game will glitch and you'll still be in combat with the monster, but when you beat it it'll still be on the map, allowing you to safely level up. Press S after the battle to save your experience. Note that you have to have access to the blue statue or blue wizard to actually increase your stats. Don't press Q or R. They stand for Quit and Restart.

You can use this to your advantage by killing something strong but with good loot, then using the save exploit to attack a weaker monster but gaining the same experience. Bats are an early example. When you make it to the blue wizard around floor 13, the knights standing next to him also do this.
