Society will never "evolve" beyond the need for money because people will never be willing to accept that their work does not have a set value. Also, if machines replace human workers, then machines become the commodity we are trading in. Someone will have to build, maintain, and service the machines, if we build machines to do those jobs then someone will have to build/service/maintain those. Someone will have to develop and maintain the energy source for these armies of machines. Expecting human labor to ever become obsolete is the surest sign of a complete moron.

Certainly not any time soon, though. 3. Well certainly, if these things were designed in a way that led to them failing, then they could fail. Generally they'd be designed in a way to avoid that at all costs. If it was at the point where the majority of (if not all) people were too stupid to fix it, then there'd be AIs that had the intelligence to fix them (as, if there were no humans who could, intelligent AIs would be required for any sort of growth, otherwise we wouldn't "devolve" into this mass of stupid people). Pessimism is silly and not an argument, as well.
