If machines could replace all human work, some billionaire what have built an automated factory
covering a square mile in Montana and made trillions off it already.

Take your horseshit and pound it down your throat.

I heard somewhere that technology isn't getting any better as of today, so robots will never
improve, and we're stuck with what we have now for eternity

dont be a dumb fuck, machines DO replace human labour, but if they where to build a HUGE
motherfucking complex to build stuff NOW, then 2 things would happen: 1, the consumer doesnt have
money, and 2, competitors go out of buisness or have to build their own mega factories, which
  produces 1.
so no not one of the billionairs are going to build a mega factory, because while it might be
profitiable in the very short term, it would quickly fuck them over. so they solve this by SLOWLY
advancing technology, and withholding alot of other technologies.

  Seriously, stop posting this horseshit.

Society will never "evolve" beyond the need for money because people will never be willing to
accept that their work does not have a set value.

Think about it, this is saying that if I go to work 50 hours a week to produce the resources your
resource based economy would need to function and you sit on your ass and repost cancer-flashes
to /f/ all day then the ways we have spent our time were of equal value.

Also, if machines replace human workers, then machines become the commodity we are trading in.
Someone will have to build, maintain, and service the machines, if we build machines to do those
jobs then someone will have to build/service/maintain those. Someone will have to develop and
maintain the energy source for these armies of machines. Expecting human labor to ever become
obsolete is the surest sign of a complete moron.

This is where robots that can service themselves come into play. Robots to get resources, robots
to maintain production factories, and robots to maintain and repair other robots (there is no
rule saying that two robots of the same model can't repair each other - that's just stupid).
Artificial Intelligence that can design new robots, new AIs, which can do new jobs better. To say
that this isn't possible is to be ignorant of how the world works.

The human mind is essentially a computer, just with different materials. We are essentially
natural robots. There is no reason an AI can't work similarly (unless you're a religionfag).
There is no reason robots can't design other robots, so long as they are sufficiently advanced.

It's a dangerous concept, to be sure, and indeed the one behind many movies, but that doesn't
mean it's invalid, or can't happen.

>> [_] Anonymous 06/02/10(Wed)02:09 No.1277365

  1. AI will not be intelligent enough until we build "creative" robots that can automate design,
manufacturing processes, and logistics on their own.

  2. We barely have enough energy available for the factories we have now, we will need a shitload
more power for these mega factories.

  3. Humans are fucking lazy and will sit on their ass posting on shitty imageboard sites about how
fucking stupid the world is that don't listen to your shit. If these factories somehow fail,
these lazy shits will have no idea how to fix them. Goodbye Civilization.

4chan for your fill of pseudo-intelligentsia

  1. "...so long as they are sufficiently advanced." Yes, it will require us to create them that
way to begin with, but that in and of itself doesn't it mean it can't or won't happen. There is a
lot of research going into doing this exact thing even now. This is hardly a point.

  2. I don't disagree, but again, that doesn't mean it's impossible. Certainly not any time soon,
  though.

  3. Well certainly, if these things were designed in a way that led to them failing, then they
could fail. Generally they'd be designed in a way to avoid that at all costs. If it was at the
point where the majority of (if not all) people were too stupid to fix it, then there'd be AIs
that had the intelligence to fix them (as, if there were no humans who could, intelligent AIs
would be required for any sort of growth, otherwise we wouldn't "devolve" into this mass of
  stupid people).

Pessimism is silly and not an argument, as well.
