To be fair, there are two legitimate sides to this. The brits had a monopoly on all goods and
services, to witch they could charge any tax they damn well wanted.
That said, the brits were at the time fighting a war with France, and were hurting badly from
offering the US aid, troops, and the like with the french and Indian war and desperately needed
the taxes (that weren't all that bad).
However, as mentioned Jefferson was a rum runner and smuggler who wanted this done to not pay a
goddam thing, as well as many others.
There are two sides to everything, what it all boils down to is we are all in it for ourselves.
Bigger versions of two tribes killing each other over what made up god they believe in.
What it comes down to is who has more people....and how brutal can those people be.
