A MIDI controller. As to which one exactly, I don't know.
Each button on it has a programmed sample, and the controller is used as an instrument of sorts
to play it.

Really?
I mean, don't get me wrong it's interesting but all he's really doing is rhythmically queing
harmonious samples. You could diddle with it blind and turn out something not cringworthy with an
hour of playing around.
Creating and organizing the samples is much more interesting to me.
