drowning a computer won't kill it
i actualy had a flood a few years back and one of my old pc tower in the basement was submerged
for shits and giggles i took the time to clean all the parts and left it to dry for 2-3 months it
worked fine after that

I think the water can severely fuck up a magnetic platter on a HD. Other than that I don't see
why it would fuck up electrical components with no charge running through them as long as you let
them dry.
