It's a modernized version of those old-school dungeon hacking games. But unlike those old games where combat was crap and the game was 100% about grinding levels, this game is only like 50% grinding levels because half of the battle is actually about using intelligent strategy. The real awesome thing to me is that, unlike many modernized games, Etrian Odyssey doesn't feel the need to be easy. It is brutal and unforgiving the way a dungeon hack should be. >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)21:03 No.951980 >>951978 All I hear is "Blah blah this game is the same thing you've heard about every dungeon crawler ever." >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)21:05 No.951981 >>951980 It's basically fanservice for hardcore fans of the genre, but us fans have been neglected for about a decade so it's nice that at least we have Etrian Odyssey 1 and 2. Let's hope it's not another ten years before the next quality dungeon hack. >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)21:57 No.952041 bamp >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)22:01 No.952045 Hardcore game, excelent for hardcore grindans... yes i fucking killed the wyvern even when you are not supposed to kill it... yes i fucking grinded with 100exp per battle with 800,000 exp per lvl >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)22:09 No.952050 i dont know why the paladin is held so high. well its the most balanced char, still i dont buy it... just because deals average meelee damage, its able to become an iron defense and lighlty heal itself.... i preffer something that blows the shit out of enemy with a single blast/blow instead of long run battles. >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)22:20 No.952065 >>952050 Well you have a party of five people. So how about you get a healer, a paladin who uses its taunts and shieldblocks to take 100% of the damage, and then three massive damage-dealing classes? >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)22:27 No.952069 My personal party is: Protector (or paladin), Beast Medic, Troubadour, Gunner. Protector is key for boss fights as she is practically invincible and able to take 90% of the hits for the party. With the medic keeping her HP topped off, she's all set. Beast is there more for random battles where I don't want to blow a ton of TP, and I wanted a second front-line fighter who could take and deal heavy hits. My beast is specced to be able to absorb tons of damage and dish it back out tenfold, especially due to a skill that multiplies its damage by how much HP it is missing. However, it only has personal defense skills, not "take damage for the rest of the party" skills. (more) >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)22:28 No.952070 The medic is a full support medic for now, and just exists to keep everybody's HP full except for the beast. The troubadour is there for full party buffing, for putting FOEs to sleep, and for removing buffs from the entire enemy party. The gunner is my general back line offense guy. He lacks the pure muscle of the Beast, but his attacks are extremely accurate, and he can use all of the elemental bullets as well as special shots that induce status effects, and he can even cure status effects on my own party. >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)22:41 No.952080 even in your /f/ F.O.E. >> [_] Anonymous 04/13/09(Mon)22:53 No.952099 STOP REPOSTING THIS |
