  >the original purpose of the theory of evolution was to act as scientific evidence for
institutionalized racism and by extension to provide for a basis for a legal reason to sterilize
the mentally ill and people of color. It essentially being a secular version of the christian
idea that only certain people are saved/chosen by god and everyone else are doomed/worthless.

Why'd he run INTO the angry mob instead of jumping into the water and swimming away?

Hot tar does not seem like fun at all.

Very few people in the past actually knew how to swim. Swimming being a normal thing is a
relatively recent phenomenon, and only so in developed countries.

So it's very likely that he can't swim at all.

It's from the HBO miniseries, John Adams.

Here's a little something interesting from the "historical inaccuracies" section on the series'
  wiki page:

John Hancock, after being confronted by a British customs official, orders the crowd to "Teach
him a lesson, tar the bastard". Hancock and Samuel Adams then look on while the official is
tarred and feathered, to the disapproval of John Adams. The scene is fictional and does not
appear in McCullough's book. According to Samuel Adams biographer Ira Stoll, there's no evidence
that Samuel Adams and John Hancock, who were opposed to mob violence, were ever present at a
tarring and feathering, and so the scene succeeds in "tarring the reputations of Hancock and
  Samuel Adams".

  >>2274403

  Damn field caps. Continued:

Jeremy Stern writes that, "Despite popular mythology, tarrings were never common in Revolutionary
Boston, and were not promoted by the opposition leadership. The entire sequence is pure and
pernicious fiction."[16] According to Stern, the scene is used to highlight a schism between
Samuel and John Adams, which is entirely fictional.

So yeah, you've all been played by HBO if you think this was real.

Oh well, Darwin intention was never to make war at religion. He never said LOL JESUS IS A LIE.
Instead, he tried to make perfect clear that evolutionism is not opposed to creationism, since
you don't take everything in the Bible literally

Too bad hardcore evangelic people wanted a fight, at science and fedora wearers think every
religion (or follower) is that stupid

tl;dr - The Pope said already that evolution is true. Remove your fedoras and go home

Mobs function as a single entity lead by a thought.
The only way to destroy a mob is to get every part of that entity to think for itself.
