Never quite understood the point of stuff like this. I mean, yay. You managed to glitch up the
game badly enough it crashed into the endscreen. It's funny to see, but it feels weak being
  called a speedrun.

  >>2351211
It took a ton of work to find this glitch, and come up with a way to commandeer it into the
endscreen - it's not a crash, they're actually going into RAM and rewriting things. It's clever
as hell. Look at the notes explaining everything.

We're posting TAS to /f/ now? Neat.

Is this the Torizo% run that was published recently? I think that memory exploits are hella cool.

  >tool assisted
It's not directly comparable to playing the game directly, but it's still a skill.

  >>2351218
The stuff about the modified beams fascinates me. I love it when glitches form into things that
  resemble "real" game mechanics.

  >>2351221
  >We're posting TAS to /f/ now? Neat.
I figured the shorter TASs would fit on /f/, and it could make a nice change from the normal
  content.
As it turns out, I misjudged the size. Still, I'll do my best to upload a couple more over the
  next while.

  >Is this the Torizo% run that was published recently?
Not sure which run you mean. This was published in March.

  >memory exploits are hella cool.
  FuckYes.

Watching these always fills me with a sense of awe. You have to know so much about the game to be
able to do this. TASs are what it looks like if robots played videogames.

Put in a button to skip to the interesting bits.

Everything else is just like any other tooled speed run.

I'm sick of watching computers wall jump the same path over and over just to see a few seconds of
  a possibly interesting game glitch.

>> [_] Anonymous 04/14/14(Mon)23:09 No.2351296

  >>2351290
  Oh, that.
Yeah, I might do that one next (If I don't do Megaman first).
What's the max number of videos you can have up on /f/, is it still two?

  >>2351292
  >Put in a button to skip to the interesting bits.
Sorry, I don't actually know actionscript. I've just putting these together with FFMPEG.
I could try something a bit different form the Metroid/Megaman/Pokemen trinity if you like though.

>> [_] Anonymous 04/14/14(Mon)23:18 No.2351302

  >>2351296
Darn. I was hoping there was an easy way to at least add a slider bar for skipping around in the
  video. Oh well.

>> [_] Anonymous 04/14/14(Mon)23:37 No.2351314

What's interesting about coding a bot that plays games for you? Nothing? Nothing at all? I see.

>> [_] Anonymous 04/14/14(Mon)23:41 No.2351316

I saw the live speed run of this game and the guy was wall jumping and everything else with out a
bot. Thats why I hate tool assisted speed runs it feels like it cheapens the accomplishments of
  other runners.

>> [_] Anonymous 04/14/14(Mon)23:43 No.2351319

  >>2351316
I see it as two different things. Live speed running is a way to perfect the game, while TASing
is a way to break the game.

>> [_] Anonymous 04/15/14(Tue)00:07 No.2351342

How about just not ripping youtube videos and putting them on /f/?

Dunno why that made me chuckle.
