It's another rooty tooty point n' shooty. A gun. Fires a thing at high velocity. Generally kills. Yay. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:31 No.2347442 >>2347432 After The Second World War, many guns were captured by GI's and other allied forces. These guns were often disassembled and kept in two parts, bolt and rifle. Each has a serial number. Most k98's, Arisaka 99's and other rifles of the era that were captured either a: have obvious damage, b: have mismatched serial numbers or c: were destroyed. To have an undamaged, matching serial number of these guns is akin to getting a vintage baseball card in mint condition or other such collectors item. That's why painting it and ruining it is such a big deal. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:32 No.2347443 >>2347440 If anything, the faggot pony paint was an improvement. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:34 No.2347446 >>2347442 sooooo Americas love guns too much? I already knew that, but I still don't get why it's such a big deal to paint some rifle, if it still works it shouldn't be a problem, after all it's just a gun, point, shoot, and head about the dead american children on the news. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:35 No.2347447 >>2347432 It's a German WWII rifle. Yeah there are a lot of them, but this was a pretty nice example of one. All the serial numbers on the parts were matching, the markings were all intact, it was a decent collectors piece that someone would have really appreciated. Then some fuckstick put really shitty paint on it over a temporary fad for manchildren. Now, even though some nice anon finally fixed it, it's still probably not worth as much as it would have been, money or collectable value. That being said, I'd buy that exact rifle, just because of all the rage it has caused on /k/ in these last couple years. Maybe I'd paint a zergface or something on it to give people mixed feelings. >>2347440 Now you are just trying too hard man. Come on. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:35 No.2347448 >>2347440 What is your passion or your hobby? do you enjoy collecting baseball cards? do you play video games? do you enjoy old John Wayne films? It may be just a gun to you, but to people who enjoy the science behind the gun, the craftsmen ship and the story that come with the gun and the thrill of pulling the trigger and hitting a target with a gun crafted by a legacy it is an object of admiration. To see it defaced is akin to seeing your favorite car destroyed in an accident by a careless driver, or to see your favorite sports star get injured because of a cheap shot by another player. It may not be the end of the world, no, but it definitely elicits an emotional response. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:37 No.2347449 >>2347446 See my response >>2347448 >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:38 No.2347450 >>2347448 >science behind the gun this is American for "how many children it can kill and how paranoid I am" >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:38 No.2347451 >>2347448 This is the true face of autism. Its just some gun. Overreacting retards. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:39 No.2347452 >>2347440 Consider it like this... Some faggot goes down to the local Historical Society and buys from them a piece of local history, say some quill pen used to sign the first city charter, and then tears the nib off the quill to make a tickle-feather with it. Now, in all fairness, it's his property (He paid for it) and he can legally do what he wants with it. That doesn't mean that doing so makes sense, or even that that's what should be done with it. And he shouldn't be surprised when people object to him destroying an irreplacable piece of history to turn it into something that would both lower it's market value, as well as destroy any historical significance it may carry. Overreaction, yes. But not without a valid reason. Afaics, though, nobody hunted Anon down for this idiocy, so let the other Anons have their venting bitchfest. I sympathize, even if not in scope with them. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:42 No.2347454 >>2347450 >>2347451 First and foremost, a gun is an interesting combination of springs and metal. The trigger itself is often complicated and interesting. The number of "children it can kill" is irrelevant. However, if you are really seeking edification and not just trolling, look into the study by Harvard university on the negative correlation between gun ownership and violent crimes. As gun ownership increases, violent crimes decrease and vice versa. As for you >>2347451 What do you care about then? I bet there is something out there that is equally "autistic" to some people that you find absolutely fascinating. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:43 No.2347457 >>2347448 cool Autism bro >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:43 No.2347458 >>2347446 If you can't see the value in collector's pieces, then you're a fucking retard. This shit is akin to taking a dump on an original, mint Black Lotus MTG card, or sandblasting the paint off of an old Aston Martin and covering it in matte black krylon. What if someone took the girl you had a crush on, beat the shit out of her and popped her ass cherry? Yeah, there are millions like her, and yeah, with a little work she could probably come close to the way she was before, but still..... Objects can hold historical, cultural and emotional significance; it doesn't matter how many of them there are, if they are important in the least, you should treat them with respect. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:44 No.2347461 >>2347454 No there is nothing apart from my family that I care about enough to rage about it. Like how autistic can you even be? Its just an object, an item. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:45 No.2347462 >>2347457 While I suspect samefag, I'm simply defending my hobby and my beliefs. If it appears autistic to you, then so be it. If you really do want some sort of education on the topic, there are plenty of resources online, including a few flashes i've seen posted of how the inner mechanisms of a firearm work. Perhaps look at one or two? Unless your trolling, in which case i suppose "I mad bro" >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:45 No.2347464 >>2347454 then how come America has the highest gun ownership and one of the highest rates of gun related deaths? on that note how come Americans are so stupid they pretend there massive rait of gun related deaths doesn't exist? >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:46 No.2347465 >>2347461 People are upset that some /mlp/ autist ruined something worth a very large amount of money by painting it an obnoxious colour and slapping a pony sticker onto it. How hard is that to understand? >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:47 No.2347469 >>2347461 I'm not raging, and i apologize if i've given that pretense, I'm simply saying that it's a shame to see an original work of art like a k98 destroyed and defaced. I'm not angry, i'm only confused. I can't understand the thought process behind the action, and as such i'm glad to see that it was restored, at least somewhat, by whoever the kind anon was that removed the paint. I am not saying that it was not the owners right to paint the gun, and if that has seemed to be my opinion I apologize for that as well. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:48 No.2347470 >>2347465 Its not even their property. Why would they care? I cant see how someone can get mad about somehting so unimportant and stupid. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:48 No.2347471 the long and short of it is, the gun in the flash is just a gun and I like living in a country where I know everyone around me isn't packing a gun and I can walk around at night, leave my door unlocked, go to a movie, and generally live without getting shot by the people next door. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:48 No.2347474 >>2347464 Violence and guns are both part of American culture, and while guns obviously make the damage from violent incidences worse IMO guns don't cause violence. Some kid in Pennsylvania just stabbed 24 other students at his school, so clearly some people are going to be violent whatever tools they have available. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:49 No.2347479 >>2347464 The gun deaths come from areas where the gun ownership is more heavily restricted. But per capita other countries such as London and Russia, who have eliminated or are moving towards elimination of private gun ownership, have much higher rates of violent crime than America. You are right, we have large amounts of gun violence in cities with strict gun control, but look at areas with loose gun control as a whole (it's easy to cherry pick one or two cities that break this trend) and you will see, as evidenced by Harvard Universities study, that the negative correlation holds true. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:51 No.2347481 >>2347474 oh ok, so Americans are barbaric and should not have access to tools that can easily kill themselves or others. I tell yeah if it weren't for my country getting rich off the US by selling them our resources I would want the US to sod off and die. >> [_] Anonymous 04/11/14(Fri)12:52 No.2347483 >>2347470 >Its not even their property. Why would they care? You've never seen somebody do something extremely stupid with something that's worth a chunk of cash, that you'd like to own yourself, and thought "that's a damn shame"? The reactions are overblown because the thing that's being ruined is comparatively very rare and valuable. >>2347471 >I like living in a country where I know everyone around me isn't packing a gun and I can walk |
