I dont know. We need some sort of widespread commercialised wetware-hardware interface.
Once we have that, we can individually stimulate nerves. Once we measure what spunk tastes like,
we can hack into other peoples interfaces and give them spunk-taste on demand.

they were an obvious change made possible by new and popular technology (the combustible engine).

Pretty sure that one of the main points of video games besides entertainment is immersion. What
some of you idiots don't get is that the reason the occulus rift probably won't be around in 10
years is that its a fucking stepping stone. Everything in the gaming industry (and all aspects of
life) are generally stepping stones for the next improvement. The occulus rift could Segway into
more advanced developments that lead to even better immersion. At some point we may even be able
to replicate reality through a computer and people will have difficulty telling the difference.
Pretty much every innovation is beneficial to society, whether its good or bad. they show us what
works or doesn't and open paths that we didn't see before.

I dont even know what to say to this. How can someone be this uneducated? What country are you
from, why is their educational system failing you? Why did you never learn history?
For a start you dont even know the history of the internal combustion engine. You dont know that
the first cars were widely laughed at, weren't popular at all, were basically toys for rich
people and had massive amounts of people dismissing them as fads and refusing to invest.
Historically very few people looked at tech changes and says 'ah yes, this is an obvious
evolution!" They acted like you, saying "This is a stupid idea! Its a fad! I Dont like change!"
Right up until the moment everyone had one.
As for laser guns, they exist. Though power continues to be an issue. More efficient batteries
mean yes, laser weapons.
As an idea that sci-fi has given us though, try doors that open for you. People made those
because they thought they looked cool on star trek.
WHAT A FAD!

Yes. I am sad that's it's future creativity will be stunted by facebook ownership. Yes, I am sad
that the very vibrant Oculus developer community will wither. But, damn. If you ever had the
chance to put one on you could see the future. Even if the future was nothing more than a
fireplace in an empty villa in Tuscany. I walked up the stairs, I went out on the balcony. It was
fucking awesome at 720 dpi. And that was nothing compared to standing in airlock 2 of the
international space station. Yeah, it rocked.
But despite that, I will be selling both my Oculus headsets on ebay tomorrow. What could have
been is finished. Someone else will pick up the slack. Once you play a game in VR, there is no
going back... But no one is stupid enough to buy a facebook phone, so they killed it. But they

With Facebook at the helm most likely Occulus wil be closed source instead of opensource.
Of course facebook may do gimmicks like "Make ur own content! Hyuck hyuck" but really that's just

In a nutshel
Open source: anybody makes anything
Closed source: Facebook owns and limits everything, ONLY developers may release content and
