Take Tetra for example. That little wink thing she does is endearing. The dungeons are well-crafted and feel alive because other characters can actually enter them. Ocarina of Time felt very lonely at times, which I think is due in part to the technological limits of the N64. Sure the sailing got a bit boring at times, but it made the character interaction all the sweeter.
