Wind Waker gets more hate than it deserves.

Windwaker gets a lot of shit because of the sailing, and honestly that was both my favorite and
least favorite part.
Trying to aim the bombs at the sharks always rustled my jimmies.
But at the same time exploring and finding all of the islands, and the secrets of each island,
was probably the best exploration aspect of any Zelda to date. And the music was awesome.
Also,

Probably my favorite version of this song.

There's a fine line between exploration and emptiness. Too much buried deep means less on the
surface. *strokes imaginary Confucius beard*
I didn't mind the sailing too much, but when you're just trying to get from A to B it takes too
long and there's not a whole lot of interesting stuff in between. Things like the cyclone and the
ghost ship, those were cool, but then they go away forever.

Also, I don't think Nintendo learned much from the criticism of Wind Waker. Twilight Princess was
generally pretty good, but it felt like the world was just big for the sake of being big. And
Castle Town was just full of nobodies. Then Skyward Sword has the flying, which has all the
blandness of Wind Waker without any of the exploration. There's only a couple of places to visit,
but a lot of chests that the game marks for you when you can open them. At least it's not too
huge. The worst part is that Skyloft isn't seamlessly connected to the sky, which means loading
every time you leave or return.

I just threw my boomerang at sharks...seems like an obvious choice when the thing homes in on its
target.

I know I'm going to rustle some jimmies, but Wind Waker is the best 3D Zelda game after Ocarina
of Time.
I love the characters. They are adorable and have so much charm. Take Tetra for example. That
little wink thing she does is endearing. The dungeons are well-crafted and feel alive because
other characters can actually enter them. Ocarina of Time felt very lonely at times, which I
think is due in part to the technological limits of the N64. Sure the sailing got a bit boring at
times, but it made the character interaction all the sweeter.

i will give you that the characters were more involved and interactive, but other than specific
characters at a few locations, there was hardly anyone to interact with.
yes there was more to explore, but damn it was the same few types of enemies EVERYWHERE, slimes,
slimes everywhere, not to mention how much of a pain in the ass constantly having to change the
wind in order to get from place to place and how long it took to get to there. but i will admit
that looking for treasure from maps part was a little enjoyable. but overall the art style from
WW and all WW styled games were very crappy (spirit tracks and minish cap anyone). it was a good
concept, but implemented poorly
