Two billion is, well, it's a lot of money.
I'm sorry, Anon. The future is still on its way.

I am honestly so glad that all the hyper-autists think facebook "killed" the OR, because now I
don't have to spend every day hearing about "how great 3D sex w/ur waifu" is or whatever stupid
idea that was never going to work they had in the first place.

Haha, I can see how you interpreted it that way. From my perspective enjoying technology makes
you a reddit-using casual. In fact, all the oculus rift hype was mostly a reddit (and youtube
etc.) thing anyway.

"Virtual Reality Helmets" aren't like a new technology. I had a VR helmet like 10 years ago, and
I can tell you there was nothing particularly pleasant about using it. Made you feel and look
like a huge idiot and gave half of people headaches and nausea.
>> [_] Anonymous 05/10/14(Sat)12:55 No.2379521
If Facebook shuts down the Oculus Rift some other VR thing will come up.
After all Facebook buyed the Oculus Rift not the concept of Virtual Reality.
But I think a lot of people who supported the Oculus on kickstarter will be mad the devs for
taking their money and then selling all their shit for 2 billion $ at a bunch of soulcollecting
slavetraders.

IBM advertised this google glass-like product in 1999, but you never saw one. Why is that? This
technology is only revolutionary in science fiction. It just isn't useful in our real lives.

True, not only for Technology. Also social "(r)evolutions" are often old stuff.
Emo(tional Hardcore)s started to exist in the mid 80s and Hipsters started to arise in the early
20th century.
Without taking part in conspiracy shit our technology could be very advanced, but either we are
not willing to adapt or the hightech stuff that is developed is useless taft that looks nice.

There's still hope, the Sony Morpheus is coming out in about a year. It's for the PS4 and already
has five confirmed launch games.
Downside is you need a PS4 (no PC version afaik), but if you bought into the current console gen
chances are you have one.
Too bad steam couldn't buy Occulus ;_;
For PC-based VR, we have a long ways to go yet. I'll never touch anything facebook buys or had
it's hand in. I hate everything FB stands for.

What a dumb statement, everybody is acting like technology is a fad or ppl are being stupid for
using it, but in the end all run into the stores and buy it anyway because they like the
immersion it gives you, people want to be in fictional places, live fictional lives because their
own is so dull and repetitive... and i don't blame them.
Hell what are books, movies, theatres, drugs and this fucking site for?
Personally i was really found of this device, just because it let's you tell a story far better
than any device sofar... but not with facebook sitting behind it and monitoring your eyemovement
to see which commercial is the one you react the best to. Same goes for the google glasses

I just wanted to fuck hentai girls and I've always been a big believer of FOSS technology, and
it's pretty obvious neither of those are going to happen, so I'm sad.
Eat a dick, obviously a lot of people care, so your spamming of "who cares??" is pretty
unnecessary as the fact a lot of people are upset about it shows that yeah, a lot of people care.
