The real game; and i use that term lightly; most of what you'll look at is the GUI >> [_] Anonymous 12/03/14(Wed)23:32 No.2619632 I hate MMOs that advertise like this they don't show that about 99.99% of the gameplay isn't with the ability to talk with people or doing anything interesting its just GUI screens and dead silence except for any ambient noise in the background >> [_] Anonymous 12/03/14(Wed)23:34 No.2619634 >>2619601 slow and clunky and very relaxed pace for the most part, but generally plays like an RTS if you controlled a single unit that may or may not be shit. Each one of those ships? That's a SINGLE player. >> [_] Anonymous 12/03/14(Wed)23:34 No.2619635 >>2619632 EvE's not really a game, it's more of a simulation. A large majority of EvE is interacting with other players. There is PvP interactions in all parts of the game. >> [_] Anonymous 12/03/14(Wed)23:36 No.2619637 >>2619601 Eve is "make your own way" the MMO. Which, thanks to its userbase, basically means you end up working a second job only this time its for virtual money. There's some cool shit that goes down, but only if you're with a group, and usually only if you plan to do cool shit. The best way to have fun is to have like 20 or so dudes running a piracy or protection ring, but if you step on the wrong toes you'll get your whole group blown to kingdom fucking come. Everything is player owned and created. The game's economy is almost completely player driven. So you end up with "corps" basically small in game companies, all of real players. Many of whom may never even leave a dock and just do spreadsheets and trading. Its a weird game. I played for a long time but just couldn't invest that kind of time into it anymore >> [_] Anonymous 12/03/14(Wed)23:38 No.2619639 Not shown: Hours and hours of sitting in one spot shooting asteroids to get ore. Sitting in a hangar while skills improve with zero interaction from the player. >> [_] Anonymous 12/03/14(Wed)23:54 No.2619653 Most fun game I've ever played. Join Spaceship Samurai today! >> [_] Anonymous 12/03/14(Wed)23:56 No.2619655 >>2619639 If you're a lone wolf faggot, yes. If you were in a corp, there was more discussion and such you did, and most of the time was fucking with ship builds or assembling ships if you weren't playing with a client for fitting ships. But yes, the game was like working a second job, it was fun for a while but really wears thin if you're not in one of the super huge corporations. Also the goons and redditors duking it out. >> [_] Anonymous 12/04/14(Thu)00:13 No.2619670 http://youtu.be/lQfVVVUrCXM A much better game coming soon >> [_] Anonymous 12/04/14(Thu)00:39 No.2619703 >>2619601 It's a fun game but if you don't have ridiculous amounts of time to devote to it, don't even bother. It really feels like a second job at times. Also, it is home to one of the most sociopathic userbases I have ever seen. If you're going to play, you better join a corp immediately or you're going to be picked like a rotting carcass to vultures by everyone else. I fired up another trial that my buddy gave to me, but I didn't buy a sub because I'm shipping for military duty this month, but while I was playing, I noticed that now pirate gangs have started protection rackets on newbie miners in the starter HiSec systems. If you don't fork over your dosh, they'll suicide rush you and podkill your sorry ass. The game is brutal, but rewarding if you make the right connections, which is why people say that it's like having a second job. >> [_] Anonymous 12/04/14(Thu)00:45 No.2619707 Too bad EVE gameplay is actually nothing like that. >> [_] Anonymous 12/04/14(Thu)01:47 No.2619755 Eve is amazing >> [_] Anonymous 12/04/14(Thu)02:29 No.2619801 Quick question: How the fuck do you start playing this game? I mean, it sounds and looks cool and all, but the learning curve must be a mountain and it'll probably take 10 real life years before you feel like you are somebody. How does this game get new players and how do they get them to actually stick around and keep playing? >> [_] Anonymous 12/04/14(Thu)02:32 No.2619804 >>2619670 i guess that's not an mmo? because i doubt there's room for two of these kind of mmo games on the market. i mean, if you want to play a space mmo why wouldnt you go with eve? though i guess there's always a market for the more casual space fans of course >> [_] Anonymous 12/04/14(Thu)02:39 No.2619815 >>2619804 Answering the last question, if someone made an identical clone of EVE, people would play it because it would be a clean slate. The persistent world of EVE has been going on for over eleven years, and the old players have a monopoly that new players have no chance against. >> [_] Anonymous 12/04/14(Thu)02:42 No.2619819 >>2619801 well the trial helps, marketing videos like this one, and it is a game where you can dump all of your free time and more into, which appeals to neets, and allows for neets to meet other neets and form neet collectives, which probably suffices for the necessary social interaction most of these people need to not go insane. The real strength of eve is that it heavily rewards the people who have been paying for sub for 11+ years, and that keeps them buying the PLEX from other players who pay for it. Whether or not all the old boys pay the 15 dollary doos a month for the game, someone does, and it is highly likely some of the oldest players will only stop playing when they die. |
