Guy at the end is right though. Working out and having sex are huge dopamine releases and
  effectively combat depression.

I wish art students did research about the topics that they cover in these fucking high-school
  projects.

But really, the best way to cope with depression is to find what makes you happy and then focus
on that until you can fix or get rid of or get over whatever makes you sad.

Really it's a combination of the chick at the beginning and the guy at the end.

Also friends, parties, anything with people you like. Depression can lead to paranoia which could
  lead to suicide.

I'm gonna stop before I get much more autistic with this, but I think you see my points.

God I hate these fucking high-school art dropouts.

The effectiveness of these methods depends on the severeness of the depression as well as the
  origin of it.

I realize this, I was simply giving a generalized argument. I should have made that clear. I
  apologize.
Still, I think it's more the fault of the art school dropout for not being specific in the cause
  of depression.

A lot of depression is not so much being sad as being unable to feel anything happy. I've not
personally experienced it, but my father was diagnosed a while back, and had to go through a
couple years of treatment and meds. I'm sure that thinking about happy things, working out, and
having sex is a good way to feel good about yourself, but I doubt for some reason that truly
depressed people could even try to drag themselves out to do that sort of stuff.

Plus, y'know, the guy drawing this has quite a bit of dry humor about it. I thought it was
  hilarious, not pretentious.

this whole flash is bullshit nonsense

look heres what you need to do

you need to start lifting, then once you get big, you buy a really cool car, and then you get to
  fuck chicks

Depression as a whole is a very individual problem. No two people are exactly the same kind of
  sad.

I stand by my post, generally speaking trying to be happy might help you feel better. But there's
more to it than that. The way it should be handled depends mostly on the individual. So it's moot
to talk about it like this at all.

I didn't want to seem like an asshole or an SJW, so I didn't go there. I really don't want those
  qualities to be my resume.

I only found it pretentious because the guy speaking and the artist have plenty of opportunities
to tell us whats wrong and what the problem is, but instead of taking a half second to
effectively show us they spend the entire thing being passive aggressive and judgmental about how
no-one is really giving them good advice.

Although one thing does surprise me. There has yet to be shitstorm of lolgetoveritm80.jpeg in the
replies. Only sarcasm and quoting the flash. I'm scared.

I really wish I could overcome my depression but for some reason I can't. I'm trapped in some
sort of existential crisis that I can't escape. I ironically make fun of suicidal nerds I see on
the internet with my friends while at the same time seriously contemplating suicide. I'm honestly
scared at the thought of who among my group of depressed friends will commit suicide first,

I'm a s STEM major nerd with a high paying job but I still feel depressed. "Friend" and "parties"
are not even in the equation for me. I have no one. Though, as the other guy said, "Depression as
a whole is a very individual problem." But at the same time, I hate myself and feel and I can't
  help myself.

  Please kill me.

Not the guy you replied to, but why see a psychiatrist?
You would just be paying an arm and a leg to see someone who just pretends to be your friend in
exchange for money, reads off a script and prescribes you pills which you have to pay even more
  for.

Don't knock it till you've tried it. It also may be at least partially covered by insurance.

I'd also suggest some sort of team-based multiplayer gaming. Get involved with a clan that plays
a game you're good at; being able to get that feeling of contributing to a group can really help.

My recommendation to people who are depressed is to just escape their lives and go on a fucking
adventure or something. If you're not afraid of dying then you might as well live dangerously, it
can be a huge cure for depression to not be trapped in the same old place with the same old
people and the same old shitty circumstances.

This wont happen unless drugs are involved.
[spoiler]my dopa sacks are so burnt that i dont remember what natural good feels like. i just get
a tingly/fizzly feeling in my forehead as opposed to a glowing feeling. It is like when you blow
a load after having sex all day and it doesnt feel like anything. yey[spoiler]

>> [_] Anonymous 03/26/15(Thu)23:33 No.2730088

As someone who grew up with a psychologist for a mother,
The reason that suicides are so common with anti depressants is because sometimes depression is a
fog that clouds your real problems, when that fog lifts, you are left to see how truly shitty
your life is and your (medical) depression falls by the wayside and the bleakness of you life
  sets in.
If you are depressed the only person who can cure it is YOU, even with pills (which you should
definitely take) YOU have to be read to improve your life, your therapist can only guide you
  along.
