  Datamining on the general constantly exposes DE's blatant enforcment of pay or grind. Also the
  incredible amounts of power creep and methodolgy of needing old weapons to make new weapons which
  require you to get to level 30 on old weapons to get tenno points to grind up to next level to
  use new power creep weapons. Its disgusting and you should feel bad for even defending this game.

  The game turned into a p2w model after PS4 rolled out. DE made the drop table fucking impossible
  to balance by diluting them beyond repair, and essentially drop chances for so many resources and
  bps and shit shrunk so fast that almost overnight the game changed from a likable farming game I
  could spend hours and hours playing into a grindfest with little to no reward.

  Pay walls and clan research killed the game for me. I got my money's worth out of the game but
  after 2.5k hours I stopped playing it got so bad. And the artificial difficulty they installed
  into the limited pool of enemies through insane health pools and damage output just made

  since closed beta and buying into their Master model. Logged in two days ago to see what changed

  I dont play Warframe myself so I have a question:

  Can you buy BETTER gear?
  This is the definition of pay2win.

  Games like TF2 arent pay2win (unless you're on a faggy server that offers premium cheats) because
  the weapons you can buy arent really much better than the default weapons. They just have
  different effects and fit different playstyles.

  No, you can't buy better gear, everyone gets the same shit. The top tier, best of the best
  everything are available on the market for in-game currency or from clan research which is made
  with in-game currency.

  For most things you have to grind though but if you git gud grinding is actually a lot easier.
  Knowing your characters, how to setup squads, and getting a halfway decent clan means you can get
  and/or max out any warframe or weapon in a day.

  The PvE portion is "pay2win" under your definition, although it's better described as
  "pay2progress". The decidedly "best" gear in the game is obtained by either obtaining the weapon
  parts/weapon itself through game-play or trading other players for it (this is limited to only
  some of said weaponry).

  The PvP portion currently follows the same aspect, but the developers are currently revamping it
  into a more TF2-esque system of side-grades (not including, of course, class separation).

  ?? The DoT from even a level 150 Napalm does less than 200 damage. You'd have to be sitting in
  the fire traps they leave to take any sort of real damage. How did you die to a level 20 Napalm?
  Hell, newbies regularly handle that in Mercury defenses and survivals.

  values, which play an important role in damage mitigation to health. Ash has a decent armor
  value, but the mitigation is more than nullified by fire damage's extra damage versus health.

  Funnily enough, Valkyr is the most-suited for health-based tanking, and her base is only 100.

  It's pay4convenience more than anything IMO.

  I can play the game and gain all the stuff I need.
  While if you pay for it, you get it right away without farming it.

  Pay2win IMO is when you pay for an item that gives you a complete advantage over gameplay (Like
  paying for an item that can't be farmed which makes you stronger in game)
  Don't add boosts to that one, that's for convenience.

  But everyone has their own version of this, so that it as you will.

  I would say Warframe is Pay2Win by my definition, because you can just straight up buy pretty
  much everything with platinum, whether from the Market or from other players, it's available.
  What I'm not really sure about is whether it should matter, because unlike a competitive PvP game
  where buying your way to victory would be pretty terrible, in Warframe the game pretty much
  literally is working for those items. People who pay to get them are just paying to play less,
  which makes no sense.

  Pay2Win isn't the same as Pay2Progress.
  It's Pay2Win if in a given game, the paying player does better than a non-paying player because
  something they bought is unavailable for free (or for earned currency in-game).
  It's Pay2Progress if the paying and the non-paying players can get to the same level, but the
  paying player gets there faster. This isn't the same as Pay2Win, because by paying the player
  isn't winning more, they're just getting to the same point a normal player would, but faster.

  Generally, Pay2Progress is ok (at least from a gameplay perspective) because of matchmaking and
  game balance.
