Obviously the kid needs to get his life in order and get a job, but his dad's not going about it
in the right way. That's only going to create long-term friction between the two of them.
I just... ugh. Even if this is staged, it's tiring from a spiritual standpoint.

This. This is stupidly awful parenting.
If that kid was psychotic enough, he could well probably end up snapping as well.
Or if they were sad enough, depression spiral.
And so on.
Sudden trauma is NEVER a good way to teach someone a lesson. EVER.

I can't believe all the faggots in here saying the dad made the wrong move. It hurts to admit it,
but you guys probably play video games way too often and it's consuming your lives. Too many kids
that are 22 and older are complaining how depressing and pointless their lives are and have no
job, no college education and aren't building any kind of career skills for the future.
dude if I was a fucking deadbeat who just played vidya all day I'd be depressed too. it's called
moderation. it's called balance. this kid (staged or not) was clearly unbalanced and needed to
get his shit together.

The point isn't that the kid's point of view is reasonable. The point is that the father should
have expressed his disapproval/held his son responsible/forced him to get a job/what-the-fuck-eve
r, over the course of his sons entire life rather than doing something abrupt like this all at
once. Why not just, I dunno, NOT buy his son a fuck ton of video games over the course of however
many years he bought all those games? No, let's just buy all those games over several years,
constantly enabling him to be useless as you mentioned, and then one day randomly decide 'OK,
today I feel like being a father!' Makes a whole lot of sense.

Honestly though, I don't know what it's like in Yurop but in burgerland unfortunately most high
schools don't teach even very basic Latin phrases that are present in legal documents, political
debates, etc. Besides, no one learns in high school in burgerland anyway so even if it was part
of the curriculum it would still be the case that no one understands any of it.

Sure, it may be offered, but the only schools that actually require it are private schools. I
went to one of the top 5 ranked high schools in CT and even there it's not mandatory, just an
elective.
I see no evidence to suggest that a majority of high school graduates would have taken a Latin
course.

Sure, "a second language." Not necessarily Latin. The defaults most places are Spanish and
French, sometimes Chinese. Most people with brains don't choose to learn dead languages unless
