A lot of people don't like Spaghetti-tan. She hits home too hard for most.
(Any series that touches issue is horribly received in Japan.)
Like The World God Only Knows is actually pretty entertaining, but because the MC is a shut-in
whose only social skills are from dating sims, it was received TERRIBLY in Japan.

Otaku in Japan don't hate MCs who showcase their lifestyle as long as they are put in a positive
light, like Katsuragi is. Unfortunately, Tomoko not only hits close to home but shows the ugly
truth of what being a shut-in with anxiety is like - and the otaku, who watch anime for escapism,
can't stand being reminded of their horrible lives
