We're omnivores, we literally die without meat. Even the dietary supplements vegans take to not
die require an animal to die, usually in a pretty brutal fashion.

I am all about the meat...even sushi, but for fuck sakes, KILL THEM BEFORE YOU EAT THEM. I mean
holy shit, this frog has to watch it being eaten alive as it life slowly drains away. You think
this sort of fuck-uppery would only be found in an anime, but holy shit.

Maybe karma will come back and she becomes the Asian from Hostel.

the frog is essentially dead, all that facebook level fluff of "omg asians are disgusting"

these are basically muscle spasms, nerve twitches and death throes. The animal suffered when its
brain was still alive for only a short moment, and then a knife went through its wiring.

For me at least, it isn't a matter of whether or not the frog is suffering. Asians, and Japanese
in particular, seem to find it a generally meal enhancing feature to have the animal they eat
still alive and kicking in from of them. There are high end sushi restaurants that fillet the
fish and set the filleted fish in a bowl at the table for you to watch as you enjoy your meal.
Enjoying even the appearance of suffering as a meal enhancer seems like some pretty fucked up,
  psychopathic shit.

I love meat, and I think as animals it is natural to eat meat. However, i don't think you can
make a case for other, non-human animals getting off on the suffering of their meals.

Vegan here (for 25 years, not dead yet).
I only take a B12 pill and it's created with no animal suffering at all. Bacteria don't count :)

Humans are historically omnivores, but at this point we're smart enough to know that we don't
  want animals to go endangered and multi-cell organisms have brains too. It's no longer necessary;
we have technology that allows us to avoid abusing animals for basic materials.

For cows yea, but foul and fish the fresher the better. I usually hunt and kill my own frogs when
I eat them and I can tell you that their is a huge difference between an hour or so before
cooking and store bought. The same for fish, fresh caught is much better than store bought.

>> [_] Anonymous 04/16/15(Thu)10:38 No.2750882

  >>2750879
We are talking about fish, freshness is very important and the fresher the better. As fish spoils
extremely quick if not precautions (that alter the taste and texture a lot) are taken (like
cooling it down, cooking or salting) I guess this weird custom has shown up.

I think it is not really appetizing to see a dead animal spasm away to prove its fresh. I
sometimes eat at a restaurant here in germany, it has its own fish pond and catches the fish
  right before it gets prepared.

  >and then a knife went through its wiring.

Knife going through or not, if that is your grounds for thinking it is dead, then you're wrong.

Amphibian and reptile tissue is typically able to stay alive much longer than a human without
access to an oxygen supply, so cutting open the circulatory system won't kill it right away. It
will stay alive long enough to appreciate what's going on.

That being said, i don't know that a frog is as sentient as a human and able to appreciate the
  pain as much.

Still, it seems over-the-top to do this to an animal just for novelty's sake.

Of course I've nothing against Asians besides some aspects of the culture.
