Second all the public nuclear fallout shelters in the state have been decommissioned (although several signs remain around the basements of the University of Colorado buildings in Boulder). >> [_] noko 2171676 The majority of federal buildings, as well as public schools and universities all have underground shelters. However, most of them are just full of junk thats in permanent storage... Kind of a failure on behalf of the government to let that happen, if you needed one you would have days of clearing out junk and sanitizing the place since it would be full of insects and rodents. Also of course, there would be no stored useful supplies to speak of. >> [_] Anon 2171697 >># 1. Stick your dick into your computer 2. Listen to what it says 3. It was far away from where I live though. >> [_] Anon 2171764 >># Nuclear problems are a very real possibility. A full nuclear attack may be unlikely, but issues in nuclear power plants are a very real possibility and become more likely every day as the power plants age. Knowing how to react in a nuclear situation could safe your life and the lives of those you choose to help one day. >> [_] Anon 2171784 >># It's a self-perpetuating cycle and it's fucking bullshit. The public views nuclear power as unsafe, so new, modern, safer power plants can't be built because of limp-wristed "not in my backyard" soccer moms. The power grid is so overstretched that we depend on our existing nuclear power plants, so the NRC continues to push back decommissioning them indefinitely. Eventually there's going to be an accident at some decrepit power plant we built in the 50's or the 60's.. which reinforces the public's opinion that nuclear power is unsafe. >> [_] Anon 2171791 >># Its not that bad. The situation could be a lot better, but the movement for clean energy is very apparent, and additional safety measures were taken after the incident in Japan. Radiation isn't all that dangerous if handled correctly. In the event of an incident running a red light in an attempt to escape the radiation is likely to be more dangerous than the radiation itself. Radiation can be though of as a fine dust. Even sitting in your car with the windows up will keep you protected from a large amount of radiation. Its not a long term solution, but the general public is fairly safe in most situations as long as panic and exposure is limited.

It's literally telling you that death could be very imminent, yet there is no emotion. All you would be able to do would be hide in your basement and listen helplessly to an automated message update you on the end of life as you know it. >> [_] Anon 2116110 >iraq >> [_] Anon 2116111 >tfw getting these kinds of alerts for tornados Shit scares the balls out of me.
