I mean it is a streaming program for a reason. Especially on mac. I gave a friend a series to watch on his laptop connected to the tv. VLC took ages just loading fucking filetypes for the subs, and configuring the fucking file for viewing. Plenty of lag in intensive scenes with multiple signs as well. Latest version too. VLC is a fucking streaming program nerds. It's the most "convenient" option. Nothing more, nothing less. And it nose dives so fucking hard as soon as encoders start doing anything special with the filetypes that it supports. >> [_] Anonymous 04/22/15(Wed)09:41 No.2757582 >>2757509 it still sucks at colour space transformation/scaling, I've very recently made a frame-by-frame comparison with mpv myself and VLC still sucks dick. >> [_] Anonymous 04/22/15(Wed)09:46 No.2757586 >>2757579 Maybe your friend shouldn't download so many viruses and or buy a new laptop if his is really that shitty that it lags on vlc. >> [_] Anonymous 04/22/15(Wed)09:46 No.2757587 >>2757494 I can fap to this >> [_] Anonymous 04/22/15(Wed)09:46 No.2757588 ITT people who haven't tried watching a 1080p blu-ray rip of a show on VLC Protip: it doesn't fucking work. "PRO TIP" hah! VLC does that on 108p bytestreams beacause your shitty machine isn't capable. On my Inspiron 8600, it does exactly this with 1080p, but works flawlessly on my XPS17. Not VLC's fault you have a wooden gfx card. But to be fair, VLC has gone utter shit. DO NOT try to pause and step frames or scrub teh playhead, because NO MATTER the hardware, it always chokes and crashes MPC is missing a few of teh nicest features of VLC, and needs to bring its GUI up to snuff, but it's far superior these days. I like it's shell integration a little better, it proves to be more "easily accessible", but MPC will allow you better control of your codecs and brings better nerdtools to the table. Just that installing VLC megamotherfuckergottacatchemall codec pack actually is beneficial, since I've frequently found odd encodings that MPC doesn't handle natively, or that doesn't require an extensive knowledge of God's Armpits to fiddle with the nerdsettings. Just install it, and stick to using your other faves. You prolly got Quicktime on your Windows box too, dontcha... but you never use that crap, dooya.... just there for it's special collection of codecs it brings >> [_] Anonymous 04/22/15(Wed)12:28 No.2757728 Let's be real here. VLC has a puzzle game. Fuck all other players. |
