See: Advent Children

Bad voice actors. Aerith is only half-dead. Director voice-over commentary, including an interview
with the writer about how he created Aerith because he was sad about his mom dying. Vanille from
XIII makes a cameo appearance in the Honeybee Inn. Dirge of Cerberus third person shooter segments
with Vincent. Trophies ("Achievement Unlocked: Shish Kebob Girlfriend"). Weekly gigabyte-sized
mandatory updates. High resolution FMVs added to the beginning and end showing random scenes, while
the actual game has the original crap graphics. Item, materia, equipment and monster bestiaries, so
players gotta-catch-them-all. Invisible barricade around the Midgar Zolom so players don't get
frustrated when they wander into the swamp without a chocobo and get wiped.

Is this actual features confirmed?

Biggs, Wedge and Jessie survive having the plate dropped on them. Seto can be unpetrified. The
Turks are unlockable characters. Sephiroth is a candidate for the Gold Saucer dating scene. Barret
has a baby chocobo that lives in his hair. Any reference to Cloud getting motion sick are removed
because it would make him seem uncool.

Tidus is from FFX, not FFVII.

And boys, this is how you start trolling.

Personally I just hope it's released for PC as well so I get to play it. But that's never going to
happen.

Tried playing the original on an emulator a few years back (first FF I played in the series was
FF9) but the loading times and camera delays on every single battle were unbearable. I've watched a
100% playthrough of the game on YouTube though and can see that the hype is actually coming from
somewhere worthwhile in FF7.

If they don't manage this remake very carefully in being true to the original and checking if the
changes they make are OK with most of the fans they will receive an enormous backlash and have
their reputation as a game company damaged. Hopefully they realize this since it has taken this
long before creating the remake many have been asking for, seems like they just don't want to make
some super easy money because then they would have done this years ago.

> they will receive an enormous backlash and have their reputation as a game company damaged

Pretty sure they crossed that line a long time ago.

Final Fantasy X: almost the worst protagonist ever (attached swf)
Final Fantasy X-2: blatant fanwank, beginning is almost intolerable
Final Fantasy XI: consensus is it's one of the most boring MMOs to exist, and if you play now,
starkly empty
Final Fantasy XII: don't know much about this one, but there was criticism about it playing itself
Final Fantasy XIII: the absolute worst protagonists ever, entire game is a linear hallway, plays
itself
Final Fantasy XIV: on release was so broken that even Square Enix acknowledged it was a trainwreck

Not to mention the atrocious spinoffs: The Spirits Within, Dirge of Cerberus, All the Bravest.
Square Enix has shown time after time that they're more than happy to slap the Final Fantasy brand
on anything in the name of profit.

Which is sad, because Final Fantasy VII does deserve a decent remake.

Oh, and you forgot the atrocious Steam releases for VII and VIII:
The only difference from its original (ancient) PC releases are cloud saving and achievements.
But what is almost criminal is that the movies had WORSE quality than the PS1 ones, and they used
some weak midi conversion for all the music, so not only the FMVs looked like shit even compared
with the PS1, but the music was butchered to death.
The only way to be able to enjoy these games is using a fan-made patch that replaced all the music
with emulator-recorded tracks. I think there's also a fix for the FMVs, but this isn't as annoying
as the music.

>>20896
Haha, midimusic in this day and age? That's so strange.

I love the world and story of Final Fantasy X though. The whole concept of Sin killing people and
requiring a sacrifice to go away for a while, Titus being a dream, Blitz Ball, souls floating
around in the air and requiring a summoner to send them. All that lore spoke to me.

I think Tidus got such a bad reputation because fans were not used to voice actors and he does
sound kind of like a cowboy sometimes in his dialect. I got the FFX/FFX2 remake for PlayStation 3 a
year (or two?) ago and played FFX2 for the first time (didn't finish it because I had it easy the
whole game and suddenly got stuck on a dragon boss). Had an interesting clothing-based system and
made sure my dick was hard most of the time, can't really say it was bad. It allowed me to run
around some more in that nice world that felt so magical. Felt so good to see female protagonists
actually act like females, usually it's "womyn are stronk" in games which ruins the whole
experience for me.

If you haven't checked out FF12 I recommend you do so, it's my favorite in the series out of the
ones I've played: 9, 10, 10-2, 12, 13 (tried FF6 on emulator once but can't remember anything,
probably just played 30 min). The world and characters are fantastic and I really liked the combat
system. FF10 and FF12 are almost on the same place on my list but 12 wins just because it's more
fun to play and replay. Those cities feel so large and alive.

Personally I don't line FFVII as well. It's among the worst Final Fantasy Games imo.

I actually do think X is a good game. It actually is a game, not an interactive movie, and the
sphere grid provided some degree of customization. Tidus is an obnoxious twat though. It isn't his
story, it's Yuna's. Cloud and Squall may have had personality problems, but at least it wasn't over
daddy issues.

X-2 actually is pretty decent too, if you can stomach the amount of pop culture, fan service and
hyperactive atmosphere it throws at you at the beginning of the game. It thankfully tapers off as
the game progresses, and the nonlinear gameplay makes things interesting.

So yeah, Square made some mistakes with those, but they weren't fatal problems. I can't say the
same for XIII, or from what I've read, XIV. Being stuck in a hallway for 40 hours in one thing.
Being stuck in a hallway with six of the most obnoxious, moronic, self-centered, unlikeable
characters imaginable is an idea that should have never left the drawing board.

They focused too much on the graphics in FF13, I didn't enjoy it that much. It was pretty short as
well and they faked it providing more playtime by adding around 30 hours of grinding the same enemy
over and over again if you wanted to beat the game's hardest hidden boss.

Never played any online Final Fantasy, I was really disappointed that they let MMOs into the main
FF series. For me it left gaps in the series, though I realize it's just numbers.

I hope the next real Final Fantasy (FF15) will be interesting, if they make the characters likeable
I think it'll be neat to only play as males. Though unusual not to have a female healer in the
party I suppose. That teleport ability feels new. Try not to look into what the game is about too
much though, it's probably two years away. I don't have an Xbone or PS4 anyway so hopefully they go
down in price before it's time to buy one.

talk shit about 10 all you want tidus was a welcome change from cloud and squall aka the first and
second most emo protags ever. And he actually also gave up his existence no complaints which is 10
times more real than anything any other protagonist has done. at least until X-2. Only one who came
close is terra and she got off easy
