I'm trying to Google around to find out how much Patreon actually takes from updated sources but
it's hard because people are often just saying how much they makes "after fees etc" (for example
PayPal fees). But it just can't be as high as 30%, that would be silly for a donation platform
(personally I think 30% is silly for distribution platforms as well but over there the standard
actually is 30%... or like 75% for Steam because Valve are greedy).

shitstorm. Many, many of the accounts use copyrighted characters, often in explicit sexual
situations, and are directly profiting from it. The top earner (https://www.patreon.
com/sakimichan?ty=h) makes $61,184.16 per month drawing characters owned by Disney, Hasbro,
Hanna-Barbera and DC Comics.
Fanart is something you can usually get away with because lawyers don't like to sue people who
don't have any money. Patreon, on the other hand, has to look like a big, fat juicy steak.
Profit gained on public display, documented financial transactions linked to real world names
and addresses, an undeniable link between the money passing hands and the content being created.
Just a matter of time.

I dunno man, they should have thought about that. First of all it's legal to make parodies,
maybe porn counts as a parody? But then there's also that they aren't involved in any materials
produced, all they do is provide a service for content producers that allows other people to
donate money to them. Patreon doesn't support any of the creators directly, they aren't involved
in any production and they don't publish any creations on their site.
If you don't have a link to some article that bring up some very good points I don't think this
is anything but speculation, it's not a matter of time and won't happen. A company that make
millions should have checked things like this with lawyers several times, even if they try their
hardest to sound very down-to-earth everywhere (especially if you ever mail their customer
service).
