Fair enough, the larger point was that GDP doesnt mean anything since you can still have people
living in poverty even at #1

No, but it means a whole lot.
What are you trying to say? 'GDP might be high, but how do you know that women arent having their
hands cut off as part of some weird religious ritual?'. Countries with a good GDP have their act
together and dont do that kind of thing.
GDP more than anything is measurable. Its not that I think its the only thing that matters, it
just it matters a lot, and its indisputably related to everything else that matters.

Someone needs to edit this.
At the end, when he says "it's not the greatest country in the world. It's not", it should be
"it's not the greatest country in the world. It's JOOOHN CEENAAAA"

Sure, a good GDP is a start. Unfortunately USA seems incapable to proceed from that, instead
stuck to masturbating about the fact how much money a few people and organizations have.
The fact is the USA doesn't have much money, the few people and organizations do. The rest of the
USA is a piss-poor 3rd world country by most definitions.

try since the roaring 20s. we had the highest export of steel, oil, technology (mostly through
arms, aircraft, and vacuum tubes) and still became a prominent player in the day to day policies
and life of other nations. We were what china is becoming, itll only take them some self respect
and integrity. I believe that china may be the next hope of civilization, because they understand
that building something worth more than yourself is a noble endeavor, that settling for mediocre
not only shames your people but the next generation. greatness is not measured in body count, but
in lives affected.

Part of whats so incredible about modern America is how little it takes for everyone to get by.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but China settles for the cheapest and easiest stuff in basically
everything they do. Their building codes are one of the worst in any nation that actually has
building codes. They are constantly having shit like using leaded paint in shit or mixing toxic
fillers into baby formula or animal feed, mercury in their drinking water, etc etc.
China had a small bubble, but they won't be staying relevant without a cultural revolution.

I got my degree in economics.
Everyone talks about how crazy Chinas growth is, but people neglect the economic fact that
poor-as-shit nations can grow pretty quickly.
You can describe the worlds economic history pretty accurately, as a bunch of nations whos growth
approaches, but doesnt exceed that of America.
The practical reasons behind this make sense too. For America to grow, we literally have to
invent new technology that no man has ever come up with before. For China to grow, they just have
to do what America did like 60 years ago. Its also easier to grow when you are poor, because you
can improve everyones productivity by giving them cheap shit like hammers, but to make Americans
more productive you have to give them crazy robot arms and advanced degrees, which is far more
costly. Its easier to make a nation of unproductive people 5% more productive, than it is to make
a nation of the very productive people 5% more productive.
