  A seizure? More likely, I remember one way of killing the snakes who take the eggs from henhouses
  is to place hollow glass eggs. The snake swallows the egg, leaves, and then tries to break the
  egg. When it does it lacerates itself internally and dies in a presumably painful and drawn out

  Some snakes exhibit tail thrashing as a form of sexual arousal and to attract a female. I don't
  think this is an example of that however. More likely its playing sick/injured, trying to attract
  a bird or other small opportunistic omnivour, which it would presumably then prey upon.
