This is a good commercial.
It starts off ambiguous, but obviously with an agenda. Various common electronics that most
people use are now heaving, sputtering, obnoxiously loud and smelly machines. Throughout the
commercial, the viewer gawks on how silly and impractical these machines are when clean and quiet
electronic versions exist in the real world. The viewer starts to think that this is some kind of
humanitarian commercial, aimed to demonize electronics by comparing them to gas-guzzling motors.
They grow to hate these machines and the message they bring while viewing more and more examples
of silly everyday practices made much more annoying and disruptive by making electronics run on
gas.
Then boom. Car commercial. The hate for the machines is now suddenly transferred to a real world
gas-guzzling, annoying, loud, obnoxious item that everyone is familiar with and taken for
granted. The sheer stupidity of the fictional motor electronics now poses a question in the
viewer's head: can our loud obnoxious motor cars truly be the quiet, efficient electronic tools
we are so used to using?
And in an instant, with the small clip of the man pulling a big plug from the hood of the car,
the commercial answers the viewer: "Yes".

of course they wouldn't and you'd have to be retarded to believe they would.
one thing that would basically happen just like in the commercial, is that everything would need
a motor and everything would emit some form of gas if it ran on gasoline. it might be smaller
motors, but they'd still be heavier, smellier, noisier and more dangerous than current batteries,
not to mention you'd need to have gas available everywhere for recharge, as opposed to just
plugging it somewhere.
the only things they might gain is potency and time needed between recharges, but that's a lot of
cons for two small pros.

You realize the people who say nuclear plants are dangerous are not the same people running the
plants or in charge of building new ones, right?
The owners of the current plants don't want to spend the money to upgrade, so they insist the
current plants are safe. The government could force the plants to upgrade or replace older plants
with newer, safer ones. But that would require spending taxpayer money and agreeing on the
necessary regulations to maintain those plants. I'm sure that won't be a problem right?
Nuclear power is great. As long as you trust the humans who've been put in charge of it.

A study was recently released saying that due to the high use of coal on the east coast, its
actually more environmentally friendly at this point for them to just keep using fossil fuel
cars, since the power plants there are so unclean. The point of the study was to determine
whether or not the subsidy given by the government for purchase of electric vehicles ($5000, I
think) is justified. They learned that even on the west coast, where much of the energy is
cleaner, that high of a subsidy is not in fact justified. Just let the market develop new,
cleaner tech. Governments aren't really famous for their scientific innovation.

Hence why it's taking a jab at steampunk.

Literally all people need to do is not drive a car everywhere they go. There are buses, trains,
subways, trams and bicycles for all that meaningless shit that needs to be done.

There are not and have never been public buses available in my city. There are private buses for
very wealthy people to go back and forth between their mansions and country clubs though.
I've never seen a train or subway in my life, so those apparently don't exist where I live either.
Also, it would take 2 hours just to get to the nearest grocery store by bicycle, and would
actually be completely illegal as well due to some city ordinances that got passed when cyclists
caused a massive accident that killed the mayor's wife or some shit.
It would take 2 hours to get to the grocery store using a bicycle as well.

Also, the city I'm talking about in this post has a population over 300,000.

Any large/capital city in flyover country is going to be like that. Not everybody has the good
graces to live in a city that was well-established before cars were.
