I think that it has to do more with the fact that some people are too lazy to do some dirty work
and look things up themselves. Is someone was being dismissive and pointing at a map my reaction
would be "Oh, well he either knows and doesn't want to help because he's an asshole or he doesn't

The problem with spoonfeeding is that it harms the person asking the question. That's why it's
called spoonfeeding. It babies them. By telling someone about swfchan or looking underneath the
flash, you are able to help the person much more, because now instead of having to ask for the
source every time they need it, they can use their newfound knowledge to look for it themselves.
