The sets of tiles can either be three copies of the same tile or three tiles in a row. You also have to have something special about your hand to complete it, the easiest being either having a closed(entirely hidden) hand or getting 3 of the same dragon or wind. You can steal tiles from opponents discards, but this opens up your hand so you have to find another special thing about your hand.

You can also pick up a tile that was played (the computer will prompt you) when it completes a set for you. The last tiles in your hand should be a pair.
