I started watching lain literally because of the lain posts. I've watched the first three so far.
I'm limiting myself to one a week so I can fully appreciate it. I honestly dont get it so far
though. I don't want to prematurely judge it as "OMG LOOK HOW DEEP THIS IS" but then its not
really, or "LOOK AT HOW KAWAII LAIN IS" for otaku appeal. But it's really coming off that way so
far I'm sorry to say. Is this going somewhere? Be real with me.

It's not worth all the attention, but it's a good trip. Animes are always better to binge if
you've got the time to toss away. I don't remember how long it takes for the story to get a bit
warped, but kawaii is off-mark.

Sorta, it becomes more complex (some would say needlessly so), but the plot does start to develop
as the episodes go on. It keeps the same slow paced feel throughout, with the exception of one or
two episodes. The show's more about the slow development and exploration of concepts rather than
the characters or the setting.

The first few episodes are very slow paced compared to the rest, I wouldn't base your judgement
off them. I really don't want to spoil any of what I think is a great anime, my genuine
favourite, so it's kind of hard to say what's good about it. Most of the people I know who like
it have their own histories with mental illness, and they like how it charts her psychotic
descent into herself and the wired; It's highly expressive and cathartic. Is it enough to just
say persevere with it? try watching up to episode 6ish before you give up, you might be
pleasantly surprised.
Also most lain posters are shitty and autistic, ignore them.

I noticed that you linked to fauux's site, but I don't see the point in poorly recreating them
all in .swf form. They all either have a messed up animation, missing frames, a skewed
perspective, missing backgrounds or worse audio/visual quality than the original. I don't get the
point of them.

Is it because you want to attract attention to Lain and introduce people to her and the anime? If
so, you're just drawing negative attention, not to mention that you're tangling teach/learner and
learn/teacher perspectives, which it's important to avoid. If you just like playing around with
pictures of Lain, it's not important to share them with people who have no interest in them,
which also just garners negative interest. You calling someone new and looking down on them for
not liking your trashy art or lain in general just makes it clear you're only interested in using
