Something I gotta wonder, why are these cases on the rise so much?
Is it because in the past, this shit went unreported?
Is it raw genetics, and because people with say, minor autism are breeding and the autism factor
stacks or something?
(seriously, don't know on this, that's why I ask)
Or is it environmental factors,
or a combination of all these and more?
All I do know is, this used to be rare.
Now it's to the point where in grade school, a school with say... 6-800 kids, there's enough
autistic kids to fill an entire class room now, sometimes enough that they need to split them up
via grades.
Of course it may also be just general population increase as well, but then that wouldn't account
for the overall density of autistic kids rising as well.

Autism has been linked to heavy metals in the drinking water supply, especially mercury and lead.
While it may not be a 1 to 1 causal relationship, there is certainly some kind of interaction
going on. I think environmental factors are definitely to blame for the population rise in autism
cases, and some of the worst affected areas are places where industrial pollution has been a
large factor.

From what I'm seeing, as well as anecdotal evidence here and elsewhere, it is several factors,
more then just more being reported.
I'd have to say it IS definitely environmental issues, especially since we're letting
corperations get away with poisoning drinking water and other factors.
The milk issue, I don't know if that so much an issue with autisim, but I will admit, I can no
longer drink cows milk at all anymore. Even chocolate milk gives me issues. I have to drink soy
milk now. I fucking HATE it, but I know for a fact I'm not the only one with that issue now. It
might be because I've gotten older, but I come from a dairy farmer family, and we LIVED off the
stuff, but now... so much shit goes into the cows, and the stuff cows eat... anyway, off topic.
As far as the having kids past your prime, and babies surviving... yeah... I'd say that's
definitely another factor.
So much of this anti abortion shit going on, and you have babies being born without skulls, and
they're raising the plink.
I look forward to their first tantrum at age 2 or so and they start smashing their head against
the wall or something.
Anyway.. yeah. triggered on this whole thing.
Every other species on earth has a predator that helps cull them down.

I know you weren't arguing this point but the milk thing is serious bullshit. Humans have been
drinking milk for so goddamn long we've developed the ability to drink it past the toddler stage.
That argument could be used for saying that man drinking beer is causing autism. The heavy metals
in drinking water sounds far more plausible being that communities within the US that have had
massive exposure to lead develop a much higher rate of mental disorders.
tl;dr that's not how evolution works.
As for the predator thing that IS how evolution works and we've essentially conquered it which is
just bad ass. The only part of evolution we have not conquered yet is the random genetic chance
issue which happens quite often hence autism, birth deformities, etc.
