Fortunately maglev barshaft designs have NOW virtually eliminated both lateral and circuit depleneration while limiting material resorption. Sadly, the requirement of rare-earth magneto-capacitence circuits in the maglev joists has made it so that in 20 years, we won't even be able to produce them. Retro-encabulation is going to fall back at least a decade once material depletion ruins the industry. At least it'll give techs some jobs back. It's going to leave the entire concept of thorium molten-salt reaction-based power impossible though, since reliable encabulation isn't going to be feasible any more.
