I tried my best to make subtitles, but my spoken Japanese is pathetic. Well, KNN's over-the-top
Kansai accent doesn't help.
If you can contribute lines, I will upload a revised version in the future.

I also spent some time trying to make this look as good as possible in under 10MB. These are the
final flags I used, and they are probably useful for any animation:
>-vf scale=854:480 -b:v 580k -preset placebo -vcodec libx264 -qcomp 0 -refs 16 -me_method full
-trellis 2 -x264opts no-deblock -psy 0 -tune animation -threads 4 -subq 9 -bf 16 -b_strategy 2
-qmin 26 -qmax 28 -acodec copy -pass 1
Notes:
-2pass
-qcomp should be close to 0 if there is little wild movement, close to 1 if there is a large
amount of wild movement
-qmin and qmax determine filesize rather than b:v
-In general, short content should be original resolution, medium content 480p, and long content
360p, as it allows you to work with a lower bitrate

>-acodec copy
>Audio: AAC 44100Hz stereo 124kbps [A: aac, 44100 Hz, stereo, 124 kb/s]
And this is where you can save a bit to increase video bitrate. This is not a music video, sound
here almost doesn't matter, especially when everything is in Japanese. You could try to use "-c:a
libfdk_aac -profile:a aac_he -b:a 48k" (or use AAC HE2 with even lower bitrate) and no one would
even notice a difference.
Also next time don't pick videos where 2hus bully each other. Marisa and Alice were created to
cuddle with each other and not to hit in the stomach with a fist.

Fair point, but I am such a tryhard that I don't like sacrificing any audio quality. I usually do
not even turn it below 100k unless it is absolutely necessary. This is excessive, I'll admit.

If its any consolation, those are not Marisa and Alice, but ALC and UDK. ALC is almost always
portrayed as psychotic and UDK is almost always portrayed getting herself into outrageously
stupid situations.

You're just used to mp3 where everything below 128 kb/s sounds like utter crap. But AAC HE
handles low bitrates extremely well. It's like comparing quality of h264 and DivX 3 Low-Motion.
>ALC and UDK
What the fuck is that? I googled it and it seems some it's an extremely obscure meme which is
absolutely unknown in the western world.

Well, its extremely obscure in the Western world, but its one of the single most popular items on
Niconico. It called Cookie.
ALC (Alice), UDK (Marisa), RIM (Reimu), SIK (Suika), etc. are all voice actors who had the
misfortune of starring in very terrible voice dramas, and for the past 5 years, have been
thoroughly parodied online through the use of their dialogue and their characters on screen.
The most famous voice drama is "Marisa and Alice's Cookie Kiss." I won't link it because it
sucks. They all suck, but the derivative works are great.
It also crosses paths directly with 真夏の夜の淫夢, a similar fad, but instead of Touhou voice dramas,
it mocks terrible (quality wise) gay porn.
When these both combine you get stuff like the video above, and these awesome videos:

Like, it honestly surprises that people talk about how Touhou is declining and whatnot, yet so
few people have heard of the biggest controversy in Touhou since 2011. The Western fanbase has a
bad pattern of the blind leading the blind.

It's simple, then. As you said those videos heavily rely on bad voice acting. It means that they
has no value to someone who doesn't speak Japanese (like me for example). It's similar to Touhou
MMDs - so many of them are uploaded on nico every single day, but in the west they are
significantly less popular because very few of them are translated.
PS: they are still Marisa and Alice

Yeah, I guess its just better to think of them as heavily hyperbolic stereotypes of the original
characters. ALC is basically Alice stripped of everything but her yandere tendencies to the point
of sociopathy, and UDK is a gutsy, greedy Marisa who can only make the situation worse.
>PS: they are still Marisa and Alice
I mean, the characterization is so pinpoint specific that if you tag a Cookie video with the
actual character names, they will be deleted and replaced with the tags "ALC姉貴" (Elder Sister
ALC) and "UDK姉貴."
The Japanese consider them independent characters, people produce Cookie works without ever
mentioning an actual Touhou character by name, and there are literally thousands upon thousands
of these examples. At least over there, they are definitely different characters.
I guess what I am getting at is that, while Marisa and Alice should be friendly, it would be
grossly out of character for ALC and UDK to have a sane conversation for more than a minute.

You know how 4chan has memes which are entirely alien to everyone else on the Western internet?
This is the Japanese equivalent.
This is what it feels like when you don't get the joke.
