I watched through a few minutes of this thinking there was actually going to be something to it,
but it's just a how-to video. Is the joke just that she's fat? That's what you want your chefs to

I wonder if she actually did run into a subscriber out in the wild? I mean, she can't have many
of them, so odds are low that they'd run across her. Unless it was someone she knew who
subscribed out of friendship. Though I kinda feel like it's more likely she just made that up,
alone in her kitchen talking to herself and her camera, dreaming the unattainable dream of being
out in public and having a friendly conversation with someone.
She finishes the video. Clicks the camera off. Reality clicks on. There is no Melissa. People
turn away from her in disgust whenever she shows her face. Every smile is tainted by pity. She
will never know affection. She's tired all the time, it hurts. Is that sweat running down her
cheek, or a tear? Is that sound panting or quiet sobbing? She came to terms with the answer long
ago: It doesn't matter which, because nobody in the world will ever care enough about her to find
out. She imagines a life for herself behind the camera lens. The camera's off. It's gone. It's
just her and the pumpkin roll. It's gone.
