Well, maybe 1 reason to release it as a video was - I don't have any experience making swfs - but normally an swf is not seekable. You can add a timeline seekbar, and (with tweens I guess) it will most of the time do the same as a video seekbar, but if the animation relies heavily on actionscript, using the seekbar will not properly advance the video-esque animations. I've seen some flashes where stuff would get fucked up or didn't play at all when using the bar.
