I was thinking that but then when a dvd is that badly damaged it just won't read at all. unlike a
VHS where it will keep rolling regardless. Which is why I chose to say VHS instead of DVD

I'd be impressed if you got a VHS to do anything close to this effect. Or VLC for that matter,
