I would disagree with the guy.
I did not, in fact, know how to draw characters before I watched the video, he just taught me to
draw the head of characters in a very specific style.

The idea is if you can learn how to draw those characters, you can learn how to draw anything.
All it takes is effort.

That effort being the process of learning to draw other stuff.
So yeah, I didn’t know how to draw anything, and know I only know how to draw cartoony heads. And
if I put in the effort, sure, I can learn to draw other stuff, but that means I didn’t know how
to draw it beforehand.

I have dysgraphia, I literally can't draw. Hell, I can barely write.

I'm not sure what point you're making, anon. The guy's point is a lot of people claim they
"can't" draw, as in they genetically indisposed to learning how to draw, which he's saying is
horse shit, all you have to do is put in the effort to learn.
>> [_] Anonymous 04/14/16(Thu)04:12:36 No.3061757
is there one of these for anime?

You know why I cant draw? It is because when I close my eyes in order to imagine a scene all I
can see are various shapes and colours. No matter how hard I try I can't envision anything within
my mind.

Yes, but you wouldn't say that someone can perform surgery just because, with enough effort, they
could potentially learn how to.

Also can't draw for shit.

If you spent a few years of your life studying medicine, yes you can.
And so is drawing.

If you live in a home with shaggy carpets or just carpets in general, I recommend getting really
close to the ground and trying to see as many faces as you can in the carpet.
I also "don't have a very active imagination" but I taught myself how to see potential drawings
on paper after a few strokes of the pen by doing the prescribed method above.

Make a wide V.
Put a sideways D just above the V.
Draw a big C up and to the left of the D, then another C going the other way on the right.
Put some big circles in those Cs for the eyes.
Add some lines for eyebrows.
Then we just make a bunch of long lines going down for hair.
Two little lines for the neck.
Line to the left.
Line to the right.

You're pretty stupid, aren't you? I'm not the guy you've been talking to, but you're not making a
valid point here. You basically discredited everything else you said with your first post
>I did not, in fact, know how to draw characters before I watched the video, he just taught me to

>taught me to draw
I'm sorry, what?
>taught me to draw
Right.

It appears you did not understand the purpose of the guy's presentation.
He was addressing the popular belief that you either have a talent or you don't. And that's a
fallacy.

I hate shit like this. They say they can teach you how to draw and then they draw a picture and
then expect you to copy it in the exact same way. might as well get a bowl of fruit and say here
draw that and you'll be as good as me.

He's got a point. My friend Michael always wanted to be good at art but really sucked at it and
he refused to give up and kept learning new things. He had no natural talent for it but
eventually after effort his talent skyrocketed and now he's arguably the best tattoo artist in
town.
