tl;dw: Old computers did less!

Why is the narrator's voice so shaky? He kinda sounds like he's about to cry sometimes.

all those wasted older computer makes him cry

Most of what older computers did better is due to an overall less complex architecture. Most of
the things this video presents are basically impossible to do as complexity increases.

This, thought I think this video is more nostalgic than him actually complaining about this.

I don't think this made a single valid point.

It is weird that I still have a disc drive though. Flash Memory sticks are a lot better for
storage in nearly every way that matters.

When your computer bricks, your HDD is usually fine. Unless you've dropped it while it was
spinning everything should still be on there.

the only valid point i saw was old PCs having more comprehensive manuals that included
schematics, and even that is a stretch since you can pull everything you need off the internet
anyways

manuals were so much better back then. especially when they were willing to give you schematics
of the circuit boards, ensuring you could always repair your device
a far cry from apple today who are trying to make sure you can't repair your stuff but have to
buy a new one instead.

Disc drives are still relevant. I rip any CDs and DVD/BD discs and upload them to my Plex server.
That and I burn CDs for PS1 and Dreamcast.

"valid points", i dont know what you are talking about anons. all these points are valid. he
doesn't say old computers are better overall, just that some things were better. take the reboot
time for example, it booted instantly. that's objectively better than anything we have today. but
it doesn't mean the old computer is better overall.

a better point would have been that when it comes to modern computers the trend is more power
instead of more durability/reliability. computers are more fragile in both software and hardware.
it mostly comes down to marketing buzz, what's more exciting? a computer than can boast some big
number for processing? or a computer that claims to be reliable instead? given some things can't
be helped as >>3098728 said but stable programming and reliable hardware would somewhat negate
overburdened CPU's and cracked phone screens/flaming MOBO's. the attitude leaning towards
computers being disposable now.

>needing to turn off the computer to quit a program
>needing a manual
>needing schooling to do modern programming
>needing tech support
>what does your new computer do that your last one couldn't do?
...Really?
