As it is it has to connect to an external server to receive the map for that day. >> [_] Anonymous 07/09/16(Sat)14:17:02 No.3111612 >>3111455 With most of these maps you have enough time that you can start off by moving your home base to a higher ground. This will also give you time to build up your network of connectors on the relatively higher ground before the creeper spreads there. Be sure to go for those orange upgrade blocks as soon as possible, so you don't have to fight any creeper to get there. The two most useful ones are the weapons range and fire rate upgrades. Beyond that the others are up to you. Personally, I go for the flat energy boost and the lowered building cost if given the choice. A lot of these maps also put large pools for the creeper to fill. This should clue you in that mortars are going to be a good idea. Build one or two mortars to defend your base, but before you have them constantly firing, make sure you have enough energy production to supply them. Build a couple green storage units and build up a reserve of energy, then build some reactors which should subsequently drain and then replenish your energy reserves. Three or four of the red speed diamonds are useful, but beyond that you probably won't need much more speed. Similarly, I haven't needed more than 200 storage ever. So the overall goal of all of these maps is to connect your base to the totems which are the green flower-shaped objects on the map. You will find with a couple mortars clearing the pools that most of the totems will be directly in reach with a few relays or connectors if you want. If there are any that you can't reach with just the mortars, build a blaster or two and put them right near the totem that is covered in creeper. Once you have done this you should be able to connect the last couple totems and leave the map. If you are trying for a domination victory (suppressing every creeper emitter on the map), I suggest keeping blasters near your mortars and advancing the frontline slowly until your mortars can fire directly on the emitter. (1/2) >> [_] Anonymous 07/09/16(Sat)14:29:28 No.3111622 >>3111612 (2/2) Once your mortars can fire directly on top of a creeper emitter, you should be able to move a blaster or two right next to the emitter and suppress any creeper production from it immediately. Be sure to build connectors or relays so that the blasters can stay supplied with ammunition. This process can be applied to the entire map essentially. If you have an especially deep pool that you cannot reach with mortars, such as a mountain with several emitters at the top with a large pool on either side, you can consider building a drone and carpet bombing the pool so that the emitters will drain more creeper into the pool on the side opposite of your frontlines. In maps that have aerial spore attacks, be sure to get a couple SAMs up and ready before the clock runs down. You have a clear countdown given to you, so just be sure to have your SAMs in a relatively even coverage across your network of connectors and whatnot. After the first attack, it should be clear to you which direction the spores attack from (it is the same direction every time). From there you can form a wall of sorts with your SAMs and not need to worry about having all of your network covered. A few last general tips. If you have space to expand, build connectors instead of reactors, which take a lot of energy to construct. Don't try to build too many structures at once, or else your network expansion will actually be slower than if you built within the limits of your energy production. (This mainly applies to reactors and connectors, but too many construction projects of any type can put a large strain on your network that can deprive your weapons of the ammunition necessary to defend the network properly. If you find that your weapons are unable to hold the line you created, move them back towards your base or build another weapon to back them up. Remember each weapon's main purpose and balance your defenses. Good luck! |
