Fanart is something you can usually get away with because lawyers don't like to sue people who don't have any money. Patreon, on the other hand, has to look like a big, fat juicy steak. Profit gained on public display, documented financial transactions linked to real world names and addresses, an undeniable link between the money passing hands and the content being created. Just a matter of time.
