Its just an oldfag that hasn't upgraded his software in the last 5 years, VLC used to be shit for
watching file types commonly used for animu like .mkv
Now VLC is easily the best single piece of software for watching just about anything including
network steams for football games.
Its not the red headed step child everyone likes to pick on anymore and the oldfags don't want to
admit it.

OP here. I actually like VLC. Specifically, I like how I can tell it to screw windows in the
sense of "default device, default comms device" and tell it to use a virtual audio cable device.
Great for mic spamming in games.
I just find the vlc meme to be funny.

To expand on this, initially VLC was not very good at handling video files with subs coded in
them but since it was a one stop shop to do it while other programs of the time needed you to
download a few things and set them up manually, many people still used it and would complain that
the subbing groups were releasing bad files.
This lead to the subbing groups specifically encoding their releases to not play at all on VLC so
VLC's reputation got even worse.

Well the only thing I ever bothered to watch on a computer is anime and CCCP worked well enough
when I did that. Since I don't really watch anime anymore I have no real reason to care about or
get updates on the current state of video players
