archived on has been lost in the sands of time

In the comments of the YouTube upload, there's some discussion about how we're lucky to even have
this version of it:

>they didn't get ELO's permission to use this song, and because of that it can never be published
legally. the only reason we have this is because they sold a VERY few exclusive packs with dvds
in them at a con. someone ripped the cd and released it to the internet. thank god they did,
because even though it almost disappeared forever now it will never actually die! this is one of
the most beautiful and skillful works of anime art that i'v ever seen, and it's one of the videos
that changed anime forever. the internet is probably the best thing that ever happened to it

This was made in college by the guys who went on to found Gainax. They did it all by hand and
recorded it with a battery powered 8mm camera just like the one I had when I was a kid.

It was never an official DVD. It was a laserdisc. Of course, the original was 16mm film, so it
COULD be remastered without audio. However, it's not just the audio that's a problem. It's the
bunny suit that had legal issues with Playboy AFAIK.

/f/ needed some quality. I don't know why /pol/ has been shitting all over /f/ lately.
>>3194352
it's better on youtube at least
>>3194366
I didn't know that, huh.

why does everybody circle-jerk around this?
It's not even that good

It's nostalgia, mostly. There aren't many fitting meta-tributes to that era of geek culture. It's
not the video itself, but all the things it's trying to connect to and represent.
