A platformer seen from the side with instantiated battles upon colliding with enemies? (Final Fantasy style?)

Then when all that Skullgirls DLC hit they were literally working for free out of love of the game. Konami fucked them over pretty bad (The compay that does the Senran Kagura games then became their publisher for Skullgirls). Anyway, it's an Action RPG reminiscent of Valkyrie Profile (which I've never played) and has platform elements typical of Metroid and Castlevania (once they became RPGs). Their real budget is closer to 4 million, and since they eant to keep their IP the publisher told them to put some money up front (the 1.5 million) and that they would cover the rest, so they had to go the crowdfunding route because they had no Skullgirls money.
