I think you wildly overestimate it. /pol/ may be fairly large in terms of boards, but that's
because of recent floods of immigrants from other niche groups like Stormfront. It might be
highly influential when it comes to contrarian high school dropouts and college students, but
beyond that? Infowars is more influential than /pol/ is, get real.

Probably true. Boomers still buy what Fox and CNN tell them, as do mexicans of all ages. That

Bluntly put, infowars does not have memes.

I mean this without an ounce of irony; memes won Trump the election. Popularization of the phrase
"cuckservative" alone annihilated popular favor of any of the other GOP candidates.

the fuck are you talking about? All other candidates were puke and stood no chance against Trump.
Cruz was the only other candidate that had any remote chance, and even he was a fucking failure.
Trump won because every other candidate was vomit. Trump was the only candidate that had the
voice, confidence, and the funds to reach people.

Oh, can it. Trump emerged in the primary because the GOP utterly failed to mobilize behind a
single candidate (didn't hurt that they were all pretty mediocre in the first place) and b) a
fed-up, alienated base of working class whites who were increasingly suspicious of the
  establishment. /pol/ didn't flip shit.

Yes, it was all the GOP. Nothing but the GOP. The GOP that did everything in its power to try and
  get Jeb as the forerunner.

You're an idiot. Public support played a fundamental role, and memes sway opinion. You can come
up with whatever million of excuses you can, but there was a clear disonance between the public
and the GOP that /pol/ both seized and picked up on even when Trump was at 2% likelihood. If
anything, you've just convinced me that you weren't actually paying attention during the
  primaries.

>> [_] Anonymous 06/09/17(Fri)22:50:08 No.3252531

  >The GOP that did everything in its power to try and get Jeb as the forerunner.
Yeah, EVENTUALLY. In the meantime, all of the other candidates were quibbling and backstabbing
and beating the shit out of each other so hard that the only one who managed to stand out as
apart from the establishment (which was in the process of completely showing the public how they
didn't know what they were doing) was Trump. He just happened to be in the right place at the
right time -- although it didn't hurt that he knew how to pander to a crowd.

  >/pol/ picked up on Trump even when Trump was at 2% likelihood
Yeah, because he was a funny, irreverent idiot with a snowball's chance in hell of making it.
They memed him up in 2004 -- tell me, if /pol/ was the difference in 2017, why didn't he make it
then? You're right they picked up on him when he had a 2% chance, but you're forgetting that part
of hwy they picked up on him in the first place is BECAUSE he only had a 2% chance. It's like how
later on you saw people memeing about JEB! sweeping the nation, except in the first example they
got it right against long odds.

  It doesn't.

  Social media in general didn't make a dent in 2004, 4chan wasn't founded until 2003, and /pol/
(in its current form at least) didn't even exist until 2011.

In fact, your entire argument amounts to "Somehow, everyone everywhere managed to fuck up at the
same time, and /pol/ just happened to be right on pure coincidence".
