Hosin glazed flank steak and rice
Flank steak, is an often less popular cut due to it's tendency to turn into rubber when cooked by
weekend grillsters.
I like this because you can get everything you need at any local grocer so even if you don't have
super azn market nearby you can eat like an animu
Sauce stuff:
Pre-made Hosin is fucking fine I used kikkoman brand (KIKKO PAAAHNCH)
Diced/grated ginger - 4 Tsp (if using fresh go with a thumb sized chunk)
4-5 cloves diced garlic
Soy sauce 3 Tbsp
Seasoned Rice wine vinegar 3-Tbsp
1/2 Cup chicken broth
1/4 Cup sugar
Meat:
Flank steak
Rice:
Make some sushi rice - I use an electric cooker because weebtown
(follow bag instructions idk meng)
(oh, just be sure to use really cold water when rinsing it)
Other:
Medium white onion - cut into wedges
Salt/pepper
some sorta oil when browning steak
(canola works, veg works but watch the heat)
Green onion and sesame seed
HOW DO???
Season the steak with salt and pepper
In a medium high pan add 2 Tbsp oil
add onion and stir around bit, have fun with it, you deserve it.
Add the flank steak browning for 3-5 min per side depending on thickness.
Set off to the side and return pan with drippings to heat
remove onions and set aside
Add Soy sauce, broth, rice wine vinegar, ginger, garlic and sugar to the pan and set to low until
reduced enough to coat the back of a spoon and not drip off immediately
5 min
Set your oven to broil
Begin thinly slicing your flank steak, you want it thin
(remember cut across the grain!)
try and save as much juice as possible!
After its all thinly sliced, transfer it to an oven safe bowl or dish, toss with hoisin sauce and
set on bottom rack
let it broil for 10 or so keeping en eye on it.
Add however much onion you want back to sauce/glaze, add juices from cutting steak.
Serving:
Big ol' scoop o' Rice -> sauce from pan/onions -> layer that sweet sweet beef on top.
Add green onion and toasted sesame seeds if your into that (which you should be)
