For some reason recently instead of opening flashes in a new tab, I'm prompted to download them
which is far less convenient. How do I change this? I'm using google chrome

I don't use Chrome, so I can't help you much, but it's probably in your configurations. The you
can configure the browser to either download or execute .sfw files. Google it, my dude.

Chrome recently change'd how it handles plugins; I had the same issue.
Turns out all you have to do is go to the actual flash website and download it for your pc
instead of expecting chrome to have it natively.

Had the same issue and solved it the other day.
Go to Chrome settings > Show Advanced Settings > Privacy > Content Settings > Flash > Allow Sites
to Run Flash.
This was super inconvenient so I get your frustration. And it was surprisingly a frustrating
thing to search for help fixing. Happy to help, dawg.
