Kek. Trump pulling the US out of the Paris Climate Agreement is the best thing he has done so far.

His argument seems to rest on Australia's 10 year carbon tax plan costing $160B, which is where
he gets his ridiculous figure of 3.2 quadrillion dollars to reduce global temperatures by 1
degree. His source of this is the 244 page Garnaut Report - a quick search through it for "IPCC",
"160", "11.2" (the supposed per-year tax) and "billion" all come up with nothing to match this
claim. The closest I can find is a statement claiming that the carbon tax would raise 11.6
billion dollars a year for the Australian government - but 11.6 billion dollar in federal revenue
is not the same thing as 11.6 billion dollars *lost*.

On top of this, his general premise is flawed - he extrapolates that because a proposed
Australian carbon tax which was repealed after only a couple years in effect was projected to be
inefficient, all hopes at reducing greenhouse gas emissions are a waste of time. This discounts
technological innovations making such reductions more efficient, investment in renewable energy
being a huge gain for the economy (see China's multi-hundred-billion-dollar renewable investment
plan), and the fact that virtually no country uses carbon taxes in the first place precisely
because they're economically inefficient - emissions trading schemes are far more popular.

Overall, I'd say he's talking out his ass.

Regardless of whether or not the US is part of the climate deal voluntary reduction is going to
happen. We may not hit the target number, but that was not guaranteed anyway. The only definite
consequence of reneging is that the US government won't pay out billions of dollars that it
doesn't have to foreign governments in hopes that they maybe spend some of it on reducing carbon
emissions instead of funding regional warfare. I have voted in favor of local green energy
initiatives and I donate to environmental causes, I suggest you do the same if the issue is
  important to you.

He needs to can the FCC head and get back to work on muslim immigration; then we'll be on track
for a good eight years again.
