Or something else entirely? Thinking of getting into simple music production as a hobby, and LMMS is obnoxious to work with, but don't wanna shell out $99.99 dollarydoos for something that's free elsewhere. >> [_] :v 04/30/17(Sun)20:17:23 No.3240031 >>3240028 I use Fl studio and ableton. I'm trying to learn how to use some these fancy hardware samplers. I bought the whole maschine package but I don't know how to use it beyond making basic rhythms. >fuck money steal whatever you can >> [_] :v 04/30/17(Sun)20:21:37 No.3240033 >>3240028 I should also note the hardest part of doing this is cutting samples into workable pieces that don't hard cut into each other. >> [_] godk 04/30/17(Sun)20:43:03 No.3240040 When life gives you lemons, make a flash! >>3240031 >maschine ADSR has great tutorial resources, have you checked it out? Maschine is crazy stuff, as are Kontakt and Massive and all the others. Not intuitive tools, unless you're an aging Moog engineer. >>3240033 the fine art of dithering... try overlapping/blending the ends of clips before hard-cutting, then bank them to single clips, they'll roll easily into each other as long as the tempos are solid. >> [_] :v 04/30/17(Sun)21:05:08 No.3240044 >>3240040 I saw someone working with an old akai pad and now I want one. >So vintage Luckily most DAW have samplers with adjustable dither and cross built into it so you can trigger it that way instead of re cutting it over and over. >> [_] godk 04/30/17(Sun)21:59:43 No.3240056 >>3240044 heh, true, but I also like getting my hands dirty with low-level haxx. >akai pad Meep! Now you're gonna make me miss my old hardware. Loved my Boss DR-550 and Tascam Porta-3. If only I had any of those tapes today... no, I'd probably cringe. >> [_] :v 04/30/17(Sun)22:34:49 No.3240077 >>3240056 I've never owned any hardware before...I had a shitty bass and amp that I rescued from a goodwill once. I still can't play, I gave it a roomie and haven't seen either since. >I named it Haruko, the best waifu I was going to buy a bunch of equipment but when I found out you could emulate the sound with stuff like decimort 2 I decided to not spend a fuck ton on stuff I know little to nothing about... I really need to read some books on how to use this shit... >> [_] Anonymous 04/30/17(Sun)23:02:45 No.3240092 >>3240025 You should upload this one with the lemons, the dialog is great. >> [_] Anonymous 04/30/17(Sun)23:44:16 No.3240103 >>3240025 Dude is that Art Freeman? Glad I'm not the only one who had to watch those videos. Guess you were serious about your depression, huh? >> [_] Anonymous 04/30/17(Sun)23:45:59 No.3240105 >>3240025 Also, who inspired you to make music? I sense a hint of J-Dilla with your sampling, but I can't really place what it is about it that makes me think that. You play any traditionally played instruments, like piano or guitar? >> [_] :v 05/01/17(Mon)00:49:36 No.3240125 >>3240092 Working on it, just cleaning up the full length. >>3240103 Yes it is I take samples from cognitive behavioral therapy videos pretty frequently. I finished most of a psychology degree during which we watched a lot of videos like the one sampled. I took the classes as GPA padding but they got pretty interesting beyond the intro courses. Still think it's mostly fluff and nonsense. >>3240105 I just like doing something kinda creative now and then. Most of my day to day work is very boring. Rare cases are just that...rare and as interesting as the work is, most of the time I'm just confirming findings. I can play hot cross buns on piano and touch my tounge to my elbow I tried bass and it never took beyond basic chugging rhythms. >> [_] Anonymous 05/01/17(Mon)00:59:03 No.3240130 >>3240025 If you already answered this before, I'll look thru 4plebs, but where did you get the instrumental samples for this one? Just perfect. Were they all from the same song, or did you splice different song samples together? >> [_] Anonymous 05/01/17(Mon)01:52:23 No.3240139 >>3240125 What do you do for a living? >> [_] Anonymous 05/01/17(Mon)02:01:47 No.3240142 Hey!
